  1. in the waveney area, we can get a free bus pass for children as they are all ready getting consession prices - a third off the price! you can only apply once the person is over 16 thats our council rulings!
  2. Hello its been a while since i last posted on here, my son is now 11, we changed his middle school and things are going well at the moment its amazing the difference a little understanding and plenty of support can make! he is still obsessed about lego! and is enjoying helping at our local disability football sessions, and wants to do his FA junior coaching certificate,as soon as he is old enough. we still have problems but at the moment things are going well

    is it legal??

in my last posting i explained that it had been suggested that my 9 yr old son goes on to reduced hours at school for the time being, this of course not being perminent just until he's seen by the paediatrian. the school refered it to the LEA and they have decided he is to carry on being in school full time, I was wondering if this is entirely legal as he had a doctors note stating j is suffering with anxiety and signs of depression due to the fact he is so unhappy at school.
  4. hi emma! welcome, i have a 9 yr old boy with aspergers and a 17 yr old girl. look forward to chatting to you racey
  5. just to update! the school have forwarded the letter from my doctor to the LEA and its going in front of the board! nobody can explain to me why or what will happen! i feel utterly amazed that a week on from receiving the letter j is still having to go in full time as if nothings wrong!
  6. the school is a middle school we're on a 3 tier system here! i'm hoping the school are going to be understanding, but of that was the case it wouldn't have come to this. after all like most people on here i expect, i've tried to get help and understanding for my son at school but alas it never happens! j doesn't go off on one when he hits meltdown instead he withdraws, they see this as him coping when if fact its far from it! can i also say thank you to those who replied i really appreciate it!
  7. hi, after taking my son to the doctors yesterday because he is not coping very well at school and although i have asked the school for help with this they aren't exactly falling over themselves to help. the doctor has written a letter for me to take to school requesting that j goes to school for reduced hours, i'm not sure what the school are going to make of this and how they will interpret it either, if anyone has been in a similar situation i'd be grateful to know what reduced hours meant for their child? thanks! racey

  12. Hi my 9 yr son is in mainstream school, and when there is going to be any change isn't always support or in the least prepared for the change in his routine, on the odd ocassion that the school have prepared him they have used social stories however the person who writes them has had no training, as much as she does a fantastic job its not detailed enough, and when we go through it at home panic sets in because of this. when i approached the senco at school they said that they would send home a draft and i can sort it out and they will then re do it so he has what he needs, however i've had no training and i wouldn't know where to start. any suggestions? books or something thank you racey
