  1. Thanks for saying Hi I would go up the wall with the 'break' i get at work
  2. The drumming is not bizarre. I can't explain it well but there is some connection with music and ASD.Eldest son AS age 13 can't tie shoe laces, buttons are a problem, cant write well but is grade 5 piano. Youngest son AS age 9 just started guitar and is very careful with it and is picking out notes on the strings and loves putting his ear to it, I think he likes the vibrations. This is the same boy who, went we 1st got the guitar broke it within 24 hours.......
  3. We went pre diagnosis so had to queue which was torture for my youngest aspergers son Zac. Also it became quite clear after a few rides that Zac couldn't tolerate things that were too loud or too unexpected. Also he doesn't cope well with large crowds so watching the parades (which husband and daughters really wanted) were hard. So make sure you are prepared with food/games to entertain/distract and that you have some sort of back up plan. Husband took kids that wanted to on rides and I took Zac and any other kids that didn't want to, to do something else and then we'd meet up later. Zac was almost 6 at the time. That said eldest son Alfie (also Aspergers) just 10 at the time, had read up on the net all about disney, the rides, the waits etc and he was able to cope well. But he is a speed freak and very single minded when he wants to be. So he did all the rides even the ones husband didn't want to. Personally I found Universal easier to cope with and I am not keen on fast rides so didn't feel I was missing out. Let us know how you find it and if you got the disability passes.
  4. Please what is SALT?I have seen this on many posts. Thanks Abby
  5. Hello so glad I found this site. Your posts sound very familiar. We are me (Abby) Husband (wishes to remain anon)Alfie 13 diagnosed with Aspergers Sept 2010 but I still have no paper work, Poppie 12 irratingly neurotypical, Josie 11 (Y6) dyslexia but otherwise neuro typical and Zachary 9 (Y4) diagnosed with Aspergers Jan 2010. Boys Aspergers (or purgers as we call it, or my syndrome as Zac calls it) is different to each other, Alfie quiet, withdrawn and genius (not savant), well he was quiet till the hormones kicked in. Zac loud, inappropriate, major obsessions. Waiting for Zac to be statemented by school. Waiting for Alf's school to work out what Aspergers is some time before his 1st gsce's which is May 2012. Have been entertained by the education system and psychology services in London Borough of Redbridge these last 7 years. Could write a book. But won't. Intrigued that many of you don't work. Not an option for me not to work. This ofcourse brings its own challenges and rewards. Speak soon Abby
