Hello all,
I'm Kate, mum to E, aged 15. Just exploring the ground here, as it looks like E might finally have a dx of AS. All very tentative at the moment. She copes heroically at school, is funny, passionate, gentle. After years of ups and downs, mainly to do with school, bullying, suggestions of dyslexia, dyspraxia, innappropriate or non-existant support, we've mainly found our own way round things. But this seems such a critical time, she is so lonely, has no friends, and I'm hoping that a dx might help locate some support for her. This could well be a forum she might want to use herself, but we're not there yet.
Selfishly, a relief to suddenly put all the pieces together and make sense of what this is, and huge amounts of grief and rage at all the time spent fighting this corner without help.
Not that I would exchange it for the world. As someone who has always relied on language, getting to know and understand my lovely daughter's perception of the world has been the biggest challenge and gift of my life.
