  1. Hi Mel, That's a shame, the group will be held in York so it may be difficult to travel from such a long way. You are right skill based groups like this should be available nationally. It might be worth checking with the autism directory on here to see if there are any more local services nearer to you. Kind Regards, Victoria
  2. Thank you Mel for your encouraging reply. We do accept referrals from individuals outside of the York area too. Kind Regards, Victoria
  3. Hi there, There is now a new Autism and ADHD diagnostic service for adults. The Tuke Centre is based in York and accepts both private and NHS referrals. Referrals are also taken from individuals who live outside of the York area. The service uses specialist tools to assess for autism spectrum disorder that are approved by NICE guidelines. All diagnostic assessments are multi-disciplinary. The service also offers post diagnostic support, specialist therapies, psychiatry and skill based groups. For more details, please contact 01904 430370 and ask to speak to Lucille Liebenberg. Alternatively please email liebenberg@thetukecentre.org.uk
  4. Hi Everyone, We have found from talking to many adults with autism that they have struggled over the years to meet and maintain friendships and relationships. This may have caused recurrent depression and low mood and often left the individual feeling isolated. At the Tuke Centre in York we are offering a new group social skills training programme starting in February, 2015. It is called SocialEyes and is an accredited National Autistic Society Programme and NICE approved. It is a weekly 6 month programme designed to help individuals to develop and work on their social interaction and communication skills. If you are interested or know anyone that is, please contact the Tuke Centre on 01904 430370 or email v.hughes@thetukecentre.org.uk
  5. Hi Kilimanjaro, we do accept self referrals and nhs based referrals. Self referrals are chargeable I'm afraid. The event is free and a chance to raise awareness of autism as well as seeing other adult services available in the surrounding areas. Kind Regards, Victoria
