  1. ok, so my son being on the 2nd pecentile would have 98% of children acheiving higher than him? and 98% children more physically able than him, yet he still does not meet the criteria for a statutory assessment? unbelievable!!!! that makes me so much more cross!!!!! ok thanks for the info!!!!
  2. what does all this percentile stuff mean, my son is 8 with asd diagnosis and dyspraxia, he is at SA+ he is below 2nd percentile for learning and motor difficulties as assessed by an ed psych and ot, but lea will not assess for a statement. he obviously like most maintains his composure in school and erupts at home!!!!!
  3. we realised immediately too, when the boy was sat playing yu gi oh cards, my little one sat also playing yu gi oh!!!!!

    Makaton

hi, we still use makaton, my son is fluent in speech but his understanding is poor, and using makaton helps alot, particuarly when he is stressed and he cannot focus!!! he also uses it when he cannot make himself understood, he has word finding difficulties and often finds these movements easier. school dont use it with him though, apart from when they have the makaton drive which comes around in phases!!!!!
  7. dont know what your enclosure is like, but my neighbour has an 8ft with enclosure, the enclosure simply clips off at the top, and she then covers it, still has a big bump in middle, but it is covered!!!!

    Families

i can so sympathise with this one at the moment, we have just come back from my brothers wedding, a church wedding. my little one walking through the church yard going ergh, dead people, stinky church horrible and other carefully chosen words. all because he is highly stressed. during reception, oh waht a nightmare, but i felt sad, he was the only child not included all the other kids running around anties and uncles all mingling in with each others kids(me too) but not mine, he ended up laid under a table. they moan about him and tell me how i should get him included but dont try themselves. it gets me cross. i understand the food thing my son is exactly the same, but fortunately most of my family are happy to accept his oddities with food, i think because like yours he does eat a variety of food, just in a specific way. i do however have to provide the alternatives they wont provide anything different if we go for lunch or anything like that. and occaisionally get offended if he wont drink from their glasses etc.
  10. we have done the deep and we thought it was fab too (we also know the world revolves around sealife!!!! we have also discovered magna in rotherham, a science museam, just a little obsessed with this place!!!!
  11. my son is incredibly difficult to dress in the morning, he is 7 and a half and i have come to the conclusion that it is due to his hypersensitivity in the morning or after a bath/swimming etc. he clenches his fists together and curls his toes and will not pick up his clothes, however he has little problem with this side of it at school and will dress after pe. he does take longer and need more prompting etc but he will do it!!!! which i often get infuriated at, why can he do it at school but not at home. i am quite happy though to continue getting him dressed myself it saves the distress all round!!!
  12. my son is going into y3 and will be in a mixed y3/y4 class, i find it hard to imagine how he will cope with little support when he is only working at low y1 level!!! but he thinks it's fab cos he'll be in y4!!!!
  13. hope everything has gone ok and you have arrived home safely, thinking of you. xxx
  14. anything from walt disney!!! the disney channel, disney dvd's, we love it!!!!
