    Risperidol

i think it comes under an SSRI it is not a drug that can be taken long term and blood tests also need to be done every year , My Daughter was 11 when we tried it i wasn't very happy about it but the school put alot of pressure on me we started on the smallest dose ,and it had a disasterous effect first it used to just knock her out first dose i gave she was bouncing on the bed she took it 5 mins later she was limp in my arms ,its scared the life out of me ! ,then there was the weight gain my daughter is very active but she just ballooned to a scary size and was constantly after food ,then the increase in violence began to where i couldn't remember a time in the day where i wasnt being either dragged round by my hair or being punched and bit ,it was the first and only time i have thought about putting my daughter in care things got so bad ,i used to have to evacuate the house ! then i was told to up it so we did and so the violence escalated again i looked like i had been in a ring with mike tyson and freddie krueger !! then the night terrors began she would wake screaming and would be bolt up in bed eyes wide nothing i could do ,would stop her screaming then she also started constantly rocking too that was it i had enough slowly reduced it and took her off it , alot of people say it works miracles, but me i would never let my daughter take it again

    Help please

It isn't a main stream school its a special school it was a primary special school that couldn't cope with her it is the local senior special that they want her to go to now they the senior special school told the lea they wouldn't cope with her either which is why they agreed to send her to a more specialist school the reason they give for wanting to move her back is so as she is in area and they can begin to make adult provision for her there are no provisions in my area for children like my daughter and even less for adults like my daughter ,but in other words its the money ,and i already have the wheels in motion at her current school they will help me with the adult provision in my area

Sorry it has been a very long time since i have been here ,and have only just found it again but i really need your help ,we fought for my daughter to go to a local specialist Autism school a while ago they agreed as no local school could cope ,we had already been through many illegal suspensions ,a official expulsion and part time schooling and this is to name a fraction of the things that went on , she was due to go up to local special senior school but after much debate they said they couldn't cope with her either ( daughters dx severe autism, severe learning difficulties ,challenging behaviour and Epilepsy ) My daughter loved her new school she goes as a day pupil not residential ,she took to it straight away no more violence from her at home or at school , well any way at the last review the LEA officer said they are putting wheels in motion to move my daughter back to the local senior school as they have a new building and apparently now this make everything all right !! i do not want my daughter moved this has been the first time she has settled at a school and has started to learn things and enjoy life i am so upset over this ,the LEA officer agrees with us that my daughter should not be moved she has seen great progress in her too , and has told us including my daughters school to write letters as to why my daughter should not be moved which we will all do then she will take our case to her boss , i am so angry and upset that once again we have to fight to get my daughter the education she needs ,her current school think its a very bad idea to move her and a representative from the local senior special school let slip that they are full till 2010 as well (they want to move my daughter next year as she is 16 ) so they also want to cram her into an already full school ,she also admitted the facilities were not to her liking even in the new building and she still wouldn't cope having Amy at the moment , i am so angry and tired of fighting we have decided if they try to move her we will just remove her from the education system i honestly have had enough i will be writing to my MP also get her consultant to write one if i can to support us she has no social worker ,can any one think of any thing else i could do ?? is it too early in the Game to contact IPSEA ? i tried NAS in the past they were not very help full Many thanks ,if any one wants more past info i am happy to oblige

  6. My Daughter is 12 and is still non verbal ,she uses Makaton symbols at school she will not sign but will exchange symbols at school or fetch the required symbol ,but as much as i try at home with it no luck i have the symbols stuck everwhere but she refuses to budge with them ,she hasnt had a rage for a while now there was a time where every hour of the day she would be flying into a rage but it has become a bit easier and will only occasionaly go for me but with less venom now than before ,she wears ear muffs as sounds effect her ,Makaton symbols are so expensive do i give up at home for a while or step it up a gear ?

hello there i havent posted for such along time i do pop in and see you all once in a while ! but this shocked me i thought Tamazepam had been banned i know there are a few offshoots like nitrazepam and a few others but the im sure the use of Tamazepam was banned as it is highly addictive i was in the care industry at the time and remember having to change all the meds Tamazepam will do nothing for concentration it is purley a sleeping tablet if your child is on this medication i suggest you go back to your GP or Paed immediatley do not stop the meds straight away go back to your DR and get advice on weaning them off it good luck you have really shocked me though
