referral papers have gone into several schools,some of which I think were not suitable foe my son anyway.The words "wont fit in" keep cropping up,most of my sons papers are negative in particular,around his behaviour,the management of him at his high school was highly innappropriate,but he was undiagnosed at the time,even though as a family we can see why he cant cope in mainstream,and alot of his behavioural problems are a result of mismanagement and lack of knowledge of his ASD but the special schools approached seem not to have taken this into account.I think this is partly due to the fact his statement explains his problems(some of them)but not the reasons and the different way he learns.Is there anything I can do about schools rejecting him on the basis of reports without even seeing him?I am at my wits end with complaints,by the way I complained to the government ombudsman,which is being investigated,I will keep you posted,s,services and my local LEA are a waste of time,A year on and we are still no further forward and my son still is getting no help. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

## Please PM for school name ## Does anyone know anything about 'this' school,or have any previous experience with the school,I am really worried as LEA are ignoring everything and all advise given,I have had a propectus from the school and it looks like they have strong religious policies,morning and evening services and on sundays,my son has major problems around any religious education and has done for many years,LEA have chosen to ignore this,despite everyone elses concerns,I amreally worried if they persist in trying to place my son there he will give up completely and I know his behaviour will deteriorate if they push him into the christian services he cant cope with it at all,any info much appreciated

Hi,disgusted with this,I would imagine unless the parents had been given,read and signed any restraint policies(which would have to include everything),which is doubtful if this was just a transitional visit.I would be contacting the Dfee,presuming this school is approved if not the governing body through a solicitor,I hope the lad is ok.I hope someone is supporting the family through this?

nearly a year ago I agreed to have my son accomodated under section 20 for an assessment because of severe behavioural problems at school and home.Police intervened as I had been asking for help from social services and wasnt getting any.They did a seven week core assessment,my sons behaviour detreriorated even further,we were subject to inferences to a capability as parents,run through the mill.I agreed to an assessment in week ten my son had to be moved subject to apparent sexualised behaviour to another assess unit.This finally was completed in october last year.I had already started sen statementing process which was finalised in november,it isnt worth the paper its written on.Despite the numerous reports,assessments and diagnos from child mental health,the lea went ahead and issued a statement offering 8 hours support in the school that refused to have him back since june last year.There is social services involved/health/yot.My sons life gets worse every day,I cant bring him home or s/s would place my other two children at risk,they have admitted the place where he is is not meeting his needs,its gone from child specific to JAP/JAFF meetings galore still nothing is moving.Asystemic therapist told me to take charge,I have found more than one school that will look at a placement for my son but LEA have failed to honour my request to put the referral through,spent two weeks leaving messges all over norfolk,getting fobbed off with every load of.......in the book,yot and health are behind me but are getting knowhere.Would have already got a solicitor involved but cannot finance it,cant get any help,time is running out for my son.LEA agreed back in december statement needed amending,also asked them if the eight week deadline on appeal applied they said no because they had agreed to amend,but have done nothing accept come up with excuse after excuse. Can anyone give me some concrete help that will make a dent in this.My family and I are suffering badly,we dont live anymore just exist.

no the centre is not ASD specific,my son was accomodated under section 20 by social services,after asking for help for years they finally came on board in march 2003.A residential assessment placement for supposedly 12 weeks was arranged,in week 10 he was moved to another unit under CPR legislation due to apparent sexualised behaviour.The whole assessment was restarted,finally completed in october 03.Their recommendations were EBD school.Ipushed child mental health for an assessment which proved what I already knew in my heart,my son was ASD/aspergers +secondary socialised conduct disorder. He is still at the unit,gone through child specific,JAF,JAP.still nothing is happening.the only ones who seem to be doing anything is the youth offending team who also recognised something was wrong,his worker their has based his work on visual learning and has made progress,but its not enough,everyone has agreed time and time again what his needs are,all the professionals.Asystemic therapist called a multi agengy meeting last week and was appalled at how long social services have been messing around,he actually sais to me get the media involved but I dont know if it will do any good.Sorry to go on,the answer is yes all your questions regarding needs identified,provision of needs is accounted on my sons education statement

desperately need some help,my son has been in a residential assessment centre for the last nine months,while social services,education go through their JAP,JAFF,CHILD SPECIFIC MEETINGS. A systemic therapist from the local child and family clinic called a multi agency meeting yesterday and told me to take charge of things find a school and tell them all thats what we want.my son already has a statement and a diagnosis of as with secondary complication of very challenging behaviour.I cant get any help from anyone I cant carry on on my own fighting(I have been asking for help for 10 years now my son is 13,didnt get a diagnosis till late last year.anyone out can help even if its just a few words
