kirstie Report post Posted November 9, 2004 PLease accept my apologies if this has been covered but i am having a real nightmare with my little cherub at the moment. Verbally physically abusive and running and jumping round like a wild animal screaming and crying like a banshee. I know you all know where i'm coming from We have been referred onto the Clinical Psychologist to have alook at his behaviours.(personally along with the AS and sensory probs i think there are elements of ADHD and ODD/conduct disorder) What i would like to know is if any of you out there know where i can have Lewis assessed privately to speed up the process. I'm told theres at least a 7 month waiting list and quite honestly i'm at my wits end. We are in Edinburgh but i'll travel wherever i need to go to have this done. We just feel that we need to know whats going on with him so we can deal with it and know what we are or aren't in for, particularly as he starts school next year. AAAARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH i'm waffeling! I'm so stressed. Thanks guys, Kirstie
Helen Report post Posted November 9, 2004 Hello Kirstie, Your local reference library ought to have 'The Directory of Chartered Psychologists'. This directory contains information on psychologists nationwide. It gives a profile of their credentials/ qualifcations, their specific field of expertise and their telephone numbers. You could also try to access The Directory of Chartered Psychologists on the Internet, but if I remember correctly, you'd need to already have some of the psychologist's personal information at hand before you begin. I didn't have much luck when I tried. I knew of a few private psychologists that I wanted some information on, but when I tried to find their details on the web, I didn't get anywhere. lisa Report post Posted November 10, 2004 Kirstie, We had a private Clinical Psychologist assessment done but it was in London though. She's part of a team of autism specialists and her name is Sue Goode. They have a website which is http://www.autismconsultants.co.uk/, my children have seen the consultant, educational psychologist and clinical psychologist from this team all privately and we've been very happy with them. It's a bit far from Edinburgh but they do specialise in autism unlike most of the school's psychologists. Hope this helps. Lisa
