AS and Coats disease

Recommended Posts

My son is completely blind in one eye due to a retinal detachment at birth. His other eye is good, but he doesn't have peripherical vision and that makes him clumsy. The condition is called Coats disease and is genetic. Does anyone know is there is a link between this rare disorder and autism?

Thanks, Smiley! >:D<<'>

It's a very rare disorder that not even some GPs know about. There's a retinal detachment in one eye because the blood vessels are too weak and they leak. My son had a laser op to stop the leakage but the loss of vision was complete. It's supposed to be genetic.

I'll PM Ian.
