TheNeil Report post Posted October 1, 2007 What format is the music stored on on the computer? Hopefully it'll be something like MP3 or WAV. Your best (and cheapest) option might be to download and install Apple's iTunes, import the tracks into that and then burn an audio CD that way (iTunes will allow you to compile your own playlists and then burn them direct to audio CD). Given that it's free to download and use, I'd give it a try Alternatively you could try to get something like Nero (CD burning software) which will allow you to create audio CDs (amongst other things) from audio files. baddad Report post Posted October 1, 2007 Hiya lya (pof) - You say you've got the music into the PC so your pretty much there... Obviously, i can't guess at the software that came with the turntable, but it will probably have 'ripped' the Vinyl as a WAV file, or as a series of Wav files if it's a bit cleverer than that and can detect the 'silences' between tracks... You need to open the software and locate the track... If it's one big one for the whole side of an album you'll want to chop it up into individual tracks and name them individually, or if it has done that automatically you'll want to confirm they're all there... There are LOADS of editing options you could try (adding fade ins/fade outs will stop the tracks from 'popping' as they start and finish but if you can live with that forget it, and 'normalising' the tracks would help them to sound louder on CD... it's probable whatever software came with the turntable will have these options) but the most importanyt one is to check the recordings aren't 'clipped' because they've been recorded at too high volume. The only way of confirming that is by looking at the peaks of the wave signal in the recording software or by playing them back Maybe the turntable has 'auto levels', and does that for you?? All of that is the hard bit - I really hope the software you got with it made it easier Now the easy bit You can burn an audio CD using media player, or any other commercial burning software (nero etc) ... Media player 10 + (i think?) even offers the option of 'normalising' all tracks before burning. Just start a new 'project' and drag and drop the tracks into the compilation. Once you've assembled it, just insert a CD and hit 'burn'. If you plan to keep them on the PC or put them on an MP3 player, you will need to convert ('rip') the 'wav' files to MP3 (or WMA if your player plays them) files, as Wav files are an uncompressed (non-shrunk!) format which uses HUGE chunks of memory... again, whatever software you got with the turntable is likely to include a ripper If the turntable software has an 'on the fly' converter and has already ripped the tracks in an MP3 format, and you want to burn the tracks to an ordinary CD you'll need to reverse the process and rip Mp3 to wav (newer CD players often play MP3 too - but older ones don't) I am sure you have already given up on this but hopefully some of the above will make sense to the old man! * L&P BD PS: * For anyone doing this That is NOT, by the way a 'sexist assumption' based on Lya's gender, but a fairly educated guess that she is about as interested in music compression formats and software as she is in 14th century Norwegian clog dancing formations (or less) Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

baddad Report post Posted October 1, 2007 ??? It recorded you cussing? Do you have a micophone attached to your PC? It sounds like you either have the sound card set to record from 'mic in' or (if it's a soundblaster sound card) from 'what u hear'... You will need to disable that option in your 'sound' properties... if you have a little speaker icon (or creative soundblaster icon) in your task bar try double clicking it to open the 'mixer' then 'mute' the microphone and/or 'what you hear'.
