Problem with Youtube since NYE...

Recommended Posts

Are you having trouble with Youtube its slow here, sometimes it plays the song but only a quarter of the clip. It takes about 10 mins for the song to load. ??

No, all fine here.... Two things that immediately come to mind:

1 - have you changed broadband suppliers or is anything slowing down your connection speed? The slower your broadband, the longer it takes to 'cache' the song, which is why the clip stops playing (you should see a BRIGHT red 'progress' bar showing how far in the clip has played, and a duller red bar should be chasing along in front of it showing how much is 'cached'... if the bright red catches the dull red it'll cut out until the dull red gets ahead again!)

2 - Have you got any other/new programmes running in the background (virus scans etc) using up the processor/ram memory? The download to the cache will be slowed if there's not enough available memory routed toward it...

You can check broadband speed here:

Just click on 'run speed test'...

Hope that helps

Thanks BD, I'll be checking that out too.

Since I connected the wireless router to the pc it's done exactly the same thing though I think it plays ok on the kids laptops. :wallbash:

Ahhh....

reading about the routers, it could be something to do with the modem speed settings on the other systems in the network (or the router?) Having never set up a 'network' I wouldn't have a clue, but hopefully a pointer for someone else to come back on...

presumably, you have to adjust modem/network speed settings on all the individual machines to match, otherwise it'll default to the slowest in the network(??)
