Dodgy Emails?

Recommended Posts

For about the past week I've been getting several emails a day with very dodgy titles. Let's just say that as a female I wouldn't have a need for the services offered. They go straight to my bulk email box marked as spam where I delete them without opening them, but is there anyway of not getting them in the first place because the titles are pretty horrid and I don't want to open my inbox at college and have them on display. They all seem to come from different people.

Ah yes I have those too....no don't need them either!

Best way is to block the sender and eventually they slow down and may stop. If your on AOL you will need to open them to do that, but AOL blocks any packages with them

I use yahoo and I have some 400 emails in my bulk folder which I don't even look at so assume mine are in there. I do get the begging type letters from individuals and recently did recieve one for services but this is unusual.

I used to try and block them but I spent more time trying to block without much success so now I don't bother on the basis most are going into my bulk folder which automatically empties when it becomes full.

Some emails such as a recent communication from BA go straight into my bulk folder which I then had to transfer so perhaps I should be regularly looking at my bulk folder as well.

Hope this hasn't confused you but I would just delete any dodgy looking email and for me trying to block takes some time but if it is successful and stops it then it time well spent but from my experience it isn't successful so I don't bother.

Just to say that if you do have to open them to block them, make sure you run a virus check and a spyware check afterwards. A lot of these type of emails contain hidden nasties!

I get these too Mumble, and it's difficult to block the sender when each one seems to come from a different individual. Some of them have quite innocuous tiltles which look genuine.

What I've done is to set my filter to junk the emails that contain particular dodgy keywords that keep occurring in the title, such as "sexual". This seems to have helped get rid of most of them - they go straight to my junk folder and I don't have to see the titles in my inbox.
