pookie170 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 I have a question that Im wondrin if anyone can answer? Y'know the drop down bit on the google bar, where you can see the last searches that have been carried out? Does that clear itself or does someone have to do it? Dont know if we have a cyber-spook that keeps doing that to our PC or if DS has been looking up much dodginess on google!!! Cheers, o techie-type ones!! baddad Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Hi pooks - I don't use google bar myself, but usually to clear a search history you have to do so manually... it's possible that 'google bar' could have a setting to do it automatically, or even that this could be specified as part of an automated system clean up, but if you haven't done it and nobody else in the house should or would have, caution makes good sense... If you haven't got it already, it might be time to think about getting somesort of net nanny software installed? Ben's coming up for 11, and while he doesn't often use the internet when I'm not around it is becoming a bigger interest for him (all the kids at school log into you-tube looking for cartoons and stuff and it's a big part of playtime Kulcha). I'm planning to download/install something very soon... there's a couple of links/recommendations for freeware options somewhere in here (techie forum) if you have a nose. mossgrove Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I looked around at various freeware options and ended up paying for Net Nanny. As well as blocking sites ( it can be a bit too cautious at times) there is a facility to see what everyone has been up to which can't be cleared down without the administrator password. kellyanne Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Y'know the drop down bit on the google bar, where you can see the last searches that have been carried out? Does that clear itself or does someone have to do it? It does have a clear history button at the bottom of the box that someone will have to click to clear it. pookie170 Report post Posted May 31, 2008 Cheers, dudes! Might be that hes clicked it accidentally.... We do have some sort of net nanny thing installed but I dont know which one- I leave these things to my other half as I have the unhappy tendency to botch up even the simplest of techie things.....Truth be told, these new fangled things scare me to bits! But will ensure to check out which software we're using. Esther
