LKU Report post Posted June 16, 2005 hi, like many other people here we have been seeing all types of doctors etc for years and we are currently going through the statement process. Today we had an appointment with a consultant who has an interest in asd, he said that there seems to be no doubt that J has aspergers. We showed him our copy of the ed psychs report that was requested by the lea for the statement, which has input from asd teachers, lea's own autism expert, doctors, pschologist etc and has recommendations as to what J's needs are. At least 3 professionals up to now have suggested aspergers. We were expecting him to diagnose today. Instead we are being referred for formal diagnosis this is going to be in July and will be a 3 hour appointment. Can anyone tell me what to expect at this meeting? LKU, This thread contains a post or two, which provides some information about what has happened during a diagnostic assessment. The professional will question you about your son, make sure that you have prepared an indepth profile of your son. He/she would probably want to have some interaction with your son. Your son may be given a medical. If you have any official reports then take these along to the consultation. Edited June 22, 2005 by Helen
