Tylers-mum Report post Posted June 20, 2005 (edited) Just popped in quick b/c I'm having internet problems at the moment but didn't want you all hanging in limbo. LOL I took my son to his initial appointment with the Autism doctor on Wednesday and after zillions of questions which I must admit, I failed to answer a few! I just could not for the life of me remember!! Bad Mummy!! Anyway, a play specialist had been invited into the consultation room with us to occupy my son whilst I answered the questions by the doc but they were asked to play outside in the reception area as I was having problems hearing her. Anyway, after an hour of chatting, she called them back in and asked the play specialist about his play, she basically backed up everything I had said so that was good, I guess! The doctor tried to use a bit of humour so to speak, with my son as he paraded around the room with a storage box lid (shaped as a roof, the storage box was a house and the lid - a roof) by asking him what he had on his head. My son as usual replied 'I don't know'. The doctor said, 'it's a big red hat'. 'Noo', my son replied, 'It's a roof'!! Duh doctor!!! LMSO She also noticed his lack of eye contact and his like for control, his rules or no rules!! She agreed that he does need further investigation and wants to do a full morning of testing with him and observe him in school also. She also wants to rule out his hearing issues which his 1-2-1 helper at school later informed me that the hearing teacher that attends his school to give advise, stated that his behaviour issues etc were nothing to do with his hearing issues! Wish I were told that before the appointment! Anyway, best be off now but wanted to fill you all in. Dunno when the morning assessment or the school visit will be but was just told that it won't happen overnight!!! But hey, at least now after 4yrs, someone is finally listening to my concerns!!!!!!
