Autism On-line Conference

Recommended Posts

HI

I posted about this a while ago, and I think lots of us registered for this free on-line conference. For anyone who missed the post or newbies, I have just had this email (going to everyone who registered).

Many thanks for registering for Autism2005 (www.autism2005.org), which we at Awares and AutismCymru are confident, will be the most exciting and largest gathering of world autism experts online at any one time.

The top authorities taking part include Professor Lorna Wing, world-renowned in the field; Professor Uta Frith, whose Autism: The Enigma, is one of the most widely admired books ever written on the disorder; Professor Simon Baron-Cohen, well-known for his "extreme male brain" theory of autism; Dr Darold Treffert, the world's leading expert on autistic savants, and two women with high-functioning autism, Donna Williams and Wendy Lawson, who are sure to provide invaluable insights into autism from the inside.

The latest expert to agree to take part is Dr Diane Twachtman-Cullen, a licensed speech-language pathologist specialising in autism spectrum disorders (ASD), who also holds degrees in both early childhood and special education. She is the author of several books and editor-in-chief of the Autism Spectrum Quarterly.

Please make sure you book a seat at your computers for the week of October 17-21, 2005, tell any interested friends to join you, and access this unique conference at www.autism2005.org, where you will be able to read papers by all the experts and, even more importantly, put your questions online to any of them on an extremely wide range of autism-related topics.

Sounds really great.

Elaine

To help people remember this conference nearer the time, I've added it to the forum's calendar (see link, top right of screen). :)

Hopefully the event will appear on the front page of the forum as well, while it's in progress.

James
