What's everyone listening to?

Recommended Posts

This is the great French easy-listening king Franck Pourcel's brilliant interpretation of the hit-that-never-was, The Days of Pearly Spencer.

More great easy listening from France. Raymond Lefevre's classic Soul Coaxing.

And the third and final classic from dead French easy-listening giants: Paul Mauriat's Love is Blue.

I'd forgotten it existed until that moment lol its the best song they did IMO ;)

I liked Do It For Me Now - the video was outstanding! Actually that whole album was amazing - they recommended listening to it lying down in the dark so I did :)

I'll have to dig my album out and give that a try sometime, although I only really liked about 3 songs on it, this was quite a while ago now so it's about time I gave it another listen to see if my tastes have adjusted any :D

Last time I listened to the rest was when it was part of my skater/punk phase (with plenty of other stuff thrown in for good measure)

Aeolienne's Wagner post reminded me that, aged 23, I had a summer romance with a girl whose 'bedroom' music of choice was The Flying Dutchman, culminating in this section at full volume. I thought it a bit weird, considering it's perhaps the most violent operatic passage ever written (who else but Wagner would have included a wind machine in the score?). But hey, it left me with a lifelong passion for Wagner!

Makes me wonder what musical passions I'd have ended up with if I'd ever had a relationship. Perhaps I might even have been motivated to learn a "proper" instrument by now.

I like this not just because it's a great dance track but also because it was my cousin Julian who signed the group, when he was at record label Independiente. It was his first big break in the record business.
