my problem is i have recently had to put my daughter in a care home as she can not walk or do much without support.at the miniute we can only afford to see her two days a week and feel really bad leaving her.they dont do anything with her they leave her in her room all day on the computer also she has promblems commmunicating with people..i wandered how other people feel about having to put someone in these places. i feel alone and isolated and dont know were to turn for help with dealing with it .

You might wish to try MENCAP or the Care Quality Commission.

 

Another option would be providing the care home with things your daughter enjoys doing.

A sort of interests list for her.

 

Can you get speech and language therapy for her?

 

How does she communicate her needs? eg could she type what she wishes to do or are the

choices overwhelming for her?

Hi Loopy Lou I can relate to you very much. I had to put my son in a care home last year. I like you feel very isolated, and feel very guilty for having to do this. At the moment my son is very unsettled after going through a lot lately. I really wish he could be at home with me although I know this isn't possible.

 

I agree with what trekster and SP have said. You do need to find if your daughter can be referred for help for various things, it's not good that she's just left in her room every day.
