Bit of good news for me!

Recommended Posts

I have been working as self employed for a month now, but haven't enjoyed the transient nature of it.

I just got an interview with Hewlett Packard! They know I am on the spectrum, as their HR person contacted me after seeing my CV online - they said a lot of their testers have an ASD so they are confident that I will be able to do the job (if I pass the interview stage!).

I have to do a 10 minute presentation, so that's a bit daunting. But I know I just need a red bull haha

Don't mean to sound boastful, just surprised and happy!

Well Done - this sounds like a great opportunity. I'm sure you know your stuff and as long as your presentation shows that I think you'll do great!

Oddly aspies make very good diagnostic and repair people often with an extra edge in that they rarely give up on a problem and can approach problems from unusual directions which some describe as feel and HP saying ASD welcome is a very good sign that not all employers are anti, but in computer science I can understand the attraction given it is reckoned most of Silicon Valley is aspie.

Good fortune for your future.

What's weird is the presentation topics I've been given to choose from have nothing to do with software testing! I think it's more to show my reasoning and style etc. But that makes things a lot easier for me :)

Thanks - and i'll let you all know how I get on next week!

Hi matzoball

Have you heard anything yet? Either way you could try and get some feedback from them as they sound open to being questioned.

Didn't get it - I know the HR woman that was dealing with the hiring process and it turned out that they really wanted to take as many of us as possible! They had an approval for 10, but sent back the whole approval document to add more to it - when they got it back they only had approval for 8! So they ended up taking on less than they originally planned - if it had been 9 I would have got it!

But - I have first refusal for the next intake which is next month so now I have been through it I won't be nervous anymore and hopefully get it this time round :)
