Prospects Transitions (as in the soon-to-be-wound-down employment programme run by the National Autistic Society) have invited me to a day out sponsored by Goldman Sachs. The itinerary comprises: morning at Ripley's Believe It Or Not!, lunch at Planet Hollywood and afternoon at the British Museum. All a bit school-trippy, albeit I haven't been told to bring a clipboard. ;) However I have been told that eight Goldman Sachs employees will be attending. Is it worth my going just for the networking opportunity?

If you can cope with the group of strangers then why not? Sounds enjoyable and a free lunch. Also sounds like the kind of activities where you can get lost in the activity. Lunch might be torture though if you are expected to socialise.

Lunch might be torture though if you are expected to socialise.

Especially if there's a lot of piped music or background noise (not that there's much difference between the two! ).

There are other places in London I've yet to visit which attract me more than Ripley's. Like The Crystal, combined with a trip on the Emirates Air Line cable car.

And of course the Wetlands Centre is worth a repeat visit - I believe I have already plugged it on these forums.

Unfortunately Prospects are unable to tell me in advance who from Goldman Sachs is attending, so that scuppers my intention to look them up on LinkedIn beforehand. It remains to be seen how much of a networking opportunity the lunch will be - if the GSers insist on sitting on a table all to themselves and exchanging office gossip, not very.

And then there's the Laser Race at Ripley's which doesn't sound like my thing at all - although apparently it's not one of the laser quest team games, thankfully. More info...
