Avivaa Report post Posted August 3, 2014 Hi everyone! Time for an introduction: My name is Aviva, I'm 20 years old (turning 21 in December), and I'm from the north of the Netherlands. I was diagnosed with Asperger's when I was a little under 10 years old, but three or so years ago, I've been upgraded to PDD-NOS. I just finished my Bachelor's in English Language and Culture at the University of Groningen and will start my Master's degree in Writing, Editing, and Mediating in September. I plan on doing a subsequent Master's programme in Education and afterwards hope to obtain my PhD in nineteenth-century literature (British lit or crime fiction). (That's just a plan I came up with two months ago, but I'm pretty motivated to take on that challenge. I have two more years to decide, though!) I've got a couple of quirks--one of which is my immense enthusiasm about Sherlock Holmes. It's mainly the literature, but also BBC's Sherlock. Being a proper anglophile, I also really like Doctor Who. I'm very much into detective fiction and TV series that deal with crime. One of my main hobbies is improv comedy, so the stuff you see on Whose Line Is It Anyway, for example, though I'm more one for long-form improv (it's too difficult to explain in a few lines, but truly very interesting). I find it a great creative outlet and very much enjoy doing theatre. The main reason I decided to sign up for this particular forum, however, is because I am currently working on a translation for a book of a friend of mine (the Dutch title is Ik ben niet vreemd, ik heb autisme, which translates as I Am Not Strange, I Have Autism). I'd like to get to know some of you and (if possible) ask some questions and suggestions about translations of some colloquial terms. I'm really excited to get to know you! All the best, Aviva. Mihaela Report post Posted September 24, 2014 Goedemorgen, Aviva! One of my many interests is European languages, and I once very laboriously translated a book I have (De Verloren Konig by Jos Bertaulet) from Dutch to English. I'd be very happy to help you with your translation in any way I can. (By the way, I used to listen to a lot of Dutch music. My specialist language is French, and at present I'm learning Romanian).
