Hi there,

There is now a new Autism and ADHD diagnostic service for adults. The Tuke Centre is based in York and accepts both private and NHS referrals. Referrals are also taken from individuals who live outside of the York area.

The service uses specialist tools to assess for autism spectrum disorder that are approved by NICE guidelines. All diagnostic assessments are multi-disciplinary.

The service also offers post diagnostic support, specialist therapies, psychiatry and skill based groups.

For more details, please contact 01904 430370 and ask to speak to Lucille Liebenberg. Alternatively please email liebenberg@thetukecentre.org.uk

Hi there, it's part of the forum guidelines to contact moderators before posting things like this - while the service sounds great, you have neglected to mention it's chargeable.

Will it still cost money if an NHS referral is involved?

I'm going to bookmark this. I already know of an Asperger's group in York but I feel more options and diversity is always a good thing, and it may be something worth taking a look into, in assuming that, as brought up already, the service does not charge for services. I also fear the lack of veracity of a post on a forum, rather than information taken from elsewhere, is strictly high and so I must trust that this information is correct, which doesn't help much with my anxiety.

Besides all that, thanks for allowing this to surface.

You're asked to pay in advance before assessment unless your assessment is being paid for by the NHS or other funding source.

Im going there atm. It is fantastic, because it is private, but the NHS is funding it for me, which is really good.

This service has recently entered into a contract with the NHS. They only accept referrals from GPs in the relevant geographical area and do not accept self-funded/self-referring people.
