are there self help groups or do aspies interact online?

I live in london and was looking for some but not many. Will continue. But a lot of forums online. Isnt it better to meet in person like how Alcholics Anonymous, gamblers annonymous work? Or since having social interaction problems a major issue of aspergers its not suprising most chat online?
