dealing with a aspergers child who loves plugs and switches

Recommended Posts

I have an almost 6 year old who is diagnosed with aspergers his big interest are light switches and Plugs etc and he often does them. Going to people's houses us a nightmare because all he wants to do us find out what each switch does.

Any ideas on how I can help control this please

You don't. When I was about the same age I had an obsession with wanting to know which switch operated which light, so whenever I ventured into a hospital or office building I insisted on having to switch every light on and off. In a local leisure centre was an unattended 12 way light switch panel with none of the switches labelled. A light show resulted.

Hi can I ask of this interest has stayed with you please? And if so are you able to control it now,

My son is relentless its so hard as he is genuinely interested and obviously has a real need to find out what switch does what etc.

Ive tried so many things imclidimg fiddly things, his own switch to use, we have a circuit board set etc.

I would like to add its evrry where he does it friends houses, school even our house sometimes
