call me jaded Report post Posted February 8, 2006 Are we talking Omega 3 here? The RNI - the EU's new standard to replace RDA - is set a 2g per day for an adult male. My 11 year old son gets this and more. Go steady though, because what isn't used comes out the other end in softer bowel movements. There is also an initial period where because the body has had a 'drought' of omega 3 the initial intake can be higher (my son used to get 3 times the recommended dose). It's a case of only doing one thing new at a time and watching to see what happens. The other thing to be aware of is if there is Vitamin A or D in the fish oils (such as cod liver oil), because you realy do not want too high a dose of those. Best to use an oil without. steve is a very big 12 and on the bottle of the capsules it says not to be given to children under 12,hes 12 but hes swallowed them ok no problem,my mates son is 8 and shes unsure of the rda as well,is there one? the capsules steve takes are massive, nearly as big as baddads ego but not quite sorry bd,i couldnt resist that one!
