Even though the Geiers had got Congress to make a mandate for them to get access to the CDC data to write their study, they still had every obstacle put in their way. They have given an interview here:

I've heard of many associated reasons for Autism but I think from my limited knowledge on this subject that it's primarily a genetic condition passed through the generations. It may sometimes miss a generation or maybe two but will eventually appear somewhere within a family line. There may be external factors to consider i don't think anyone can say for sure there is nothing that can have this effect but generally I believe at least it is within our genetics.
