Xanthan gum

Recommended Posts

Hi all you gf dieters out there!

J's dietician is looking into some products to persuade my gp to prescribe them for the diet. However, she can't find Xanthan gum in the current list. I know it's in the Coeliac Uk directory so wouldn't have expected a problem. Have any of you had difficulties in getting it prescribed?

Karen, about to begin Day 2 of gluten free!

Yes, I'd expect that. There's no guarantee of having gf products prescribed for ASDs, it's down to the discretion of the GP. The problem here is that the dietician can't find it listed as a prescribable product for anyone, not just ASDs.

Ah well, if I have to pay I have to pay.

Thanks for your help, F.

That's the same one that's listed in the Coeliac UK directory, and I gave the dietician the code. Don't know why she can't get it.

Thanks for bothering though, it's good of you.

Hi Karen,

We got one of the two brands listed in the directory on prescribtion, (can't remember which one though) and our chestist informed us that it was no longer available. Didn't bother trying the other brand.

Sorry can't be much help

Mary
