TheNeil Report post Posted August 3, 2006 (edited) I like to think of a blog as being an online diary where other people can (usually) add comments in response to what you've written It does seem to be one of the 'buzz' words that the media has all too recently latched onto Edited August 3, 2006 by TheNeil

littlenemo Report post Posted August 3, 2006 And believe you me my blogging would bore you stiff. As far as I can see, that's one of the main points of blogging. Most blogs are the modern equivalent of garden fence gossip about what the writer did/saw that day and as such a complete waste of time. A few give an interesting viewpoint on life/the world, but not many. It seems that nowadays we don't talk to each other, so to make up for it we have to send our thoughts out into the faceless ether in the hope that someone will listen. And now that Big Business has latched on to the idea, there are loads of corporate blogs which are used to advertise the company for free and increase their search engine ratings
keyholekate Report post Posted August 3, 2006 That's what I like about this forum, a collective fountain of knowledge. Thanks
KarenT Report post Posted August 8, 2006 It's short for Web Log. The concern about them from a child safety point of view is that the sites you post them on (eg Myspace)encourage children to give details about themselves, their interests etc and that could be abused by paedophiles infiltrating the sites posing as children themselves. I'm not familiar with them in practice but I would certainly want to monitor J using them should he be inclined. Karen x
summertime Report post Posted August 13, 2006 I'm writing one because a few people were asking on my own forum and a couple of other forums how my training was going for my trek next year, its easier than having to keep repeating myself on different forums and anyone that is interested has the option to view or not
