  1. There was a time when I went through a phase of regularly destroying work. In most instances it was because it wasn't up to standards or because a teacher had complained over a minor trivial matter that was difficult to rectify such as the handwriting. Even today I sometimes rip something apart completely and rebuild it from scratch when things go wrong. Did you know that Charles Babbage was an obsessive perfectionist? Quite often he would smash up a computer that he spent months building because it didn't work to his expectations.
  2. I have been looking for a good easy to understand book on AS, preferably written by someone who suffers from AS. A lot of books I have encountered are very technical and appear to be written by psychologists for psychologists as opposed to being targetted at ordinary people.
  3. What about so called special needs boarding schools that were not designed for people with AS and run by opressive head teachers backed up by prefects who are thugs? I had to attend one of these institutions.
  4. My father is a registered mental nurse and (claims he) has in depth knowledge of psychology and psychiatry of adults, although he is somewhat weaker when it comes to child psychology. Apparently he knew nothing about AS until I told him about it last year. I am 99.999% sure that I suffer from AS, and barely a term went by at school during the second half of the 1980s before seeing a doctor or a psychologist and none of them had a clue what was wrong with me. My father has contacts in the psychiatric profession and nobody there had any explanation either. I find it quite surprising that virtually no research into AS ever took place in Britain before the paper by Hans Asperger was translated into English.
  5. When was AS first known about in Britain? I have been verbally informed that the paper by Hans Asperger wasn't translated into English until 1991. Has there been any research or investigations prior to this into AS or similar conditions?
