hi welcome
-
yup have known about him for a while
he is on youtube
his name is Scott James.
this was why i posted my message the other day with a simple explanation of AS, as people are discussing AS on other forums and were unaware of what it was, then getting the wrong sort of info on it and discussing it.
Can I add that Scott knows what he is getting himself into, he has a loving family who support him in his choice to audition for the xfactor. It is something he wants to do.

thanx bid, obv i could have said a lot more about it, but don't want to make it too long or too negative either, just so that people can have a little more understanding about what it actually is!

what do u think? is this ok, do i need to add more, or take things out?

with a predicted Aspergers contestant on a well known talent show that is coming up, people are beginning to discuss AS, but are very ignorant to what it actually is.
I was shocked at the lack of knowledge and what people were saying about it.
So thought I would post them a message explaining a little about it. but I am not too good at putting things into words, so let me know what you think, or what else I should add before sharing it with others.
Asperger Syndrome (AS)
AS is a form of autism.
The main problem for AS people is social interaction and communication.
They may have difficulties in the following areas:
*undestanding social rules - social situations unsure of how to act
*starting/ending conversations, or knowing what to discuss
*understanding facial expressions and body language
*struggle to make and keep friends
*struggle to understand jokes, sarcasm and metaphors.
*expressing themselves emotionally
*understanding how other people feel
*knowing how to react to other peoples emotions
A person who has Aspergers can also:
* be very honest - if someone asks do you like my new hair style they may be honest and say no I don't
* intellegent with an average or above average IQ
* love routine and structure
* have a special interest which they become an expert in
