  1. Hello Everyone! Hope you are well... Has anyone seen the new series of thomas on channel 5??? It has COMPLETELY changed! They now have animated faces that move when they talk, and animated bodies for other characters. Alfie hates it and i am just wondering why they have changed it??? Alfie used to love the simplicity of expression and now if i put a new episode on he asks "wheres thomas"? Why have they done this??? anyone else got any views? Lots of love to you all x x <'>
  2. Hello Everyone, hope you are all well and had a nice Easter. I've decided to try Alfie on Gluten free foods, i really didnt realise how much gluten was in EVERYTHING he ate! So, i've been weaning him down, and used a lot of free from stuff in tesco/sainsburys. the thing is, its only been 6 days and the change in Alfie is incredible. Hes had one outburst in that time, and he is communicating more and understanding loads more.....and understanding requests too. Hes less resistant to changes if i just explain....he just seems so much happier, willing to communicate, and calmer. is it just a placebo thing as in i feel more positive so he does too? or can it just be a coincidence? or can it happen this fast??? sorry if this sounds random, he was only diagnosed 5 weeks ago....its all still very new. Plus, i am struggling to find "accessories" for meals as he doesnt like pasta and i cant find gluten free chips! Plus he wont eat veg. grrrrrr. any advice/experiences would be so gratefully recieved.....thank you x
  3. Thank you all so much for your kind welcomes and ideas. The haircut is a metter of hours away, and i've got a home hairdresser coming. Going to try a dvd, and me holding alfie. I'm just scared he will get hurt. Rather than him sitting in a chair he may be better on my lap? And i'll do him first, then charlie. They have quite trendy hair and its long ish so clippers are not really an option, but we will persevere and do it more often, and hopefully the older he gets the easier it will be.....x Hope you are all well.
  4. Hi There, my name is Sarah Jayne and my 3 year old Alfie has just been diagnosed with Autism. He already has hemiplegia and chronic lung disease, and learning and speech delay. This is all due to him being born 15 weeks premature. I am writing on this forum as i feel so confused. I dont know what to think, feel, do, say.....anything. i am blaming myself and feel very down. Alfie is due a haircut on thursday and they are always so traumatic and very distressing, i've put it off for ages. I now know why he hates it, but i still dont know how i can cope with it. I'm sorry if i'm sounding so dramatic.....i have a two year old too, called Charlie, and i just want the best for both of my children. I'm looking for any advice, support, and hopefully to make some friends. Lovely to meet you all. Sarah-Jayne, Alfie and Charlie x
