  1. On the old forum I didn't have to log in each time - it just recognised me - here I have to log in most times - I haven't changed any settings at home so is it to do with the new forum?

    Hi MotherEve

When you login there is a tick box on the right hand side of the screen which says "Remember Me"

Tick this box and you will not have to log in everytime you enter the forum.

    Kind regards

  2. I'm sorry Lufty, but sometimes i find numbers a little confusing. I generally have to look very hard at them for example mobile phone numbers and my credit card number its sooooooo long! and forget asking me to do sums in my head.......... My eldest boy is the same. Maybe it's because it's not a 24 hour clock??!

    Hi Kirstie

Please do not worry as I am glad to help.

    Kind regards

    Hi Kris

Have a really good day bruv

For our newer members it was Kris who came up with the idea of the forum in the first place and we all owe him a lot in terms of his dedication, commitment and the time he has put into making the forum the success it is today.

in 'Help and Advice' their doesn't seem to be a 'fast reply' option?

either i am missing it, or its not their!

it is fine in each of the other boards, 'General Discussion' 'Off Topic' 'Techie Corner' etc

is it just me? am i missing something?

    hi something_different

    This is now fixed.

    Kind regards

  5. If anyone would like to correspond with me they can send me private e mail to my e mail outside of this site.

It would appear that that may be better received.

    cmagic@ntlworld.com

Apologies for the offense and disgust this seems to have caused but I will not apologise for at least trying.

    Hey ho !

    Hi bothered

Just to add the hosts viewpoint :-

The forum is open to the public and any postings on this thread are viewable by guests as well as members.

Members should always be mindful of protecting their identity of a public forum.

Any messages on the forum are solely the personal opinions of the authors of the respective posting and in no way represent the stated view of this forum.

Providing these points are taken into account, your suggestion and request in this thread is perfectly acceptable for the forum.

I am sure you have not upset anyone with your posting, but rather to the contrary you have opened a healthy debate and in addition received valuable feedback and advice.

    Kind regards

  6. can we have a post for msn addys for those who want to leave theirs for others to add?would just make it easier than trawling thru profiles to find them,it maybe against forum rules though which is why i ask!! would be nice to talk online with a few(or alot ) of you :D

    Dear All

It is ok with the Admins to post MSN, Yahoo and email addresses but please be aware this leaves you open to people obtaining your address and using it for improper means.

Also bear in mind that everyone can view all posts on this forum as a guest.

The advice of the Admins is not to do this but rather use the PM function to contact another member. You can then use the PM system to exchange MSN, Yahoo and email addresses etc. once you have established contact.

    Kind regards

  7. Sorry OLmum

    its just something i noticed

the rest are all the same

and that one is back to front

so it looks out of place

wasn't sure weather to mention it or not

but it has been irritating me

    Hi something_different

It is now fixed for you

    Kind regards

  8. under each board is says

    'Admins, Moderators'

    but 'Off Topic' is

    'Moderators,Admins'

    so its back to front

is their a reason for that

    Hi something_different

It really irritated me as well but even deleting both groups and then putting them back with Admin first then Moderators did not work :-(

I will have another play to see if I can fix it.

    Kind regards

  9. Viper,

Do you really mean MP's? Labour or Conservative? I don't think it can store PM's. but you could copy and paste any information on to it. I've never used it, but I think it's just a notebook for any information you want to store. It comes in small/medium/large sizes.

One of the techie's will be able to give a better explanation.

    Nellie xx

    Hi Viper and Nellie

Nellie has summed it up nicely and yes you can cut and paste PM's into it.

    Kind regards

  10. Most of you probally Know this but just in case.

I went to florida and when i got to the theme parks, my son had major meltdowns

because he didnt like the rides, or the crowds.

A member of staff saw the Commotion and rushed over to help when I explained he had AS she took us over to customer service and they gave us a pass that allowed us to go in all the exits.

They told us all theme parks in the US would give us these pass?s.

We were also taken on behind the scenes, the Americas believe us as parents have enough to deal with, and try to make it as best as they can for us.

SO??..Came back to England and started to compare attitudes and was presently surprised. B)

Thorpe park don?t charge to carers and gave a blue band to go straight in rides NO queues.

So if you little person want to try a ride there is no build up so they have a go.

And they can stay with a partner why you go on and then you just swap.

Chessington the same and the cinemas don?t charge us and you can arrange to be taken in and sat down before others,( depending on the cinema).

So now before I go out I check to see how they can meet our needs

    .

Isn?t good to see people taking such a positive attitude towards our children.

And it makes our life so much easier and can make a potential disastrous day a pleasure.

    B)

    Hi cindy30fish

Also Poultons Park in Hampshire are very good and give wrist bands which includes carers.

    Kind regards

  11. Hi,

You will find the Forum Jargon Buster here.

    http://www.asd-forum.org.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=329

I think there are plans to put it somewhere more prominent when the Techie guys find the time. We will consider any additions.

    Nellie xx

    Hi Nellie

Yes we are still planning to put a menu option to the "Forum Jargon Buster" but it is proving a little more complicated with the new software than we thought :-(

It will be there I promise soonish

  12. Just tip-toeing in whilst nobody's looking to say how much I wish I hadn't posted this thread.

I've only just had a moment or two in between endless clearing up to have a look beyond day three of nemo and baddad's Twelve Days. To say that I feel like the grouch that stole Christmas is just a little bit of an understatement. Sorry for being such a spoil sport.

I'm going to take a break from posting for a while, as I am out of step with the concensus on this forum on a number of topics. It gets a bit time-consuming editing my views into carefully worded statements, and benefits no-one.

So, Happy New Year to you all, and I'll be back in the New Year sometime just to read the Batcave, you understand, and not take part in any debate whatsoever.

    Hi call me jaded

A constructive expression of views is always welcome on the forum.

It would be a boring life if we all thought the same way, lived with the same moral values and behaved in exactly the same way. Thankfully this is not the case so there are bound to be differences of opionion from time to time.

Please feel free to continue making postings. You might not get agreement from everyone to your point of view but that should not stop you from posting to the forum.

There is a fine line between censorship and moderation and we hope we have it right.

    Kind regards

  13. Hiya,

We're having a mighty big problem with comp at the moment.

We tried to get The Sims to play - we haven't played it for ages and it wouldn't start up.

Brother advised un-instaling and then re-instaling.

Un-instaled, did disk cleanup, defragment etc, restarted comp etc.....

Put in Sims disc to re-instal, but when we click 'instal' the Epson scanner screen pops up.........

Now - is there any way we can stop this from happening other than un-instaling Epson stuff.

    Very annoyed and confused :hypno::hypno:

    Hi smileymab

This is very difficult to advise on without being infront of the computer but in similar situations the only way to fix this problem is to un-install and then re-install the Epson scanner software.

Sorry this probably is not what you wanted to hear.

    Kind regards

  14. Well my wonderful hot chocolate maker had to go back to the shop!

Tried to use in on Wednesday night and every time i switched it on it tripped the electricity and left us in darkness.

So mum took it back to the shop yesterday and they have given us a new one.

Off to try it out now.

I hope it works and i can have some yummy hot chocolate again.

Hope no one else has had problems with theirs! (Lufty didn't you get one?)

    Hi something_different

  17. I know when I set my website up for my questionnaire I was asked by it (if that makes sense!) if I wanted to register it with the likes of google. I don't know how you could go about doing this, save contacting them directly.

    Hi phasmid

I have software which enables me to optimise the website for search engines and also submits the site to all the search engines directly. Interestingly although there are hundreds of search engines they all use only a few spiders to index the Internet. Google being the main indexer.

The new site has been submitted but it can take 6-8 weeks to appear in the search engines.

    Kind regards

  18. It might help if we try 'doing a google' for the forum, I read somewhere that the more hit's you get on google the further up the listing you get bumped. Might be a load of rubbish but, if it works, 1000+ searches might help!

    Hi phasmid

We have optimised the front page for Google and have submitted it for inclusion in their database. We have noticed the Google spiders having a sniff around the www.asd-forum.org.uk site but we have not been included in the database as yet.

    Kind regards

  19. Hullo you lot :D

I've been looking for something for M to read, Freaks, Geeks, is a bit old for him (he's 6). I've found a book called 'Can i tell you about Aspergers' by Judy Welton.

Has anyone read it? If so, was it any good?!

    Thanks xx

    Hi smileymab

Try "Blue Bottle Mystery : An Asperger Adventure" by Kathy Hoopmann

    or the sequel

"Of Mice and Aliens: An Asperger Adventure" by Kathy Hoopmann

Both are excellent books for a six year old and generally available to order from book shops or online.

    Kind regards

  20. Dear All

Over the years www.krism.org.uk and lately www.asd-forum.org.uk has become a useful resource for many people touched in one way or another by Aspergers, ASD or Autism.

The hosts would like as many people as possible to use the forum and in doing so share their vast wealth of advice and information for the benefit of all other members of this forum.

In order to do this we need your help to provide feedback on how you found out about www.krism.org.uk and lately www.asd-forum.org.uk.

For instance you might have been recommended to the site by an existing member. If this is the case we do not need to know who recommended you to the site but simply the fact that you was recommended to the forum by an existing member.

You might have come across a link to this forum from another website or forum in which case the website page or forum topic would be really useful if you have this information.

You might have performed an Internet search using a search engine such as Google or Yahoo search in which case we would like to know which search engine you used and the keywords you entered to search with for example :-

    Search Engine: Google

    Keywords used: +ASD +Forum +UK

    Many thanks in advance

  21. Dear All

As previously advised we have asked Littlenemo to change the forum logo so that the word "and" is displayed in Lower Case.

Littlenemo has very kindly submitted a revised logo which is now active on the site.

    Kind regards

  22. I don't mind the box so much, it's just that I had a pm that was 4 days old and didn't know about it. As SD said, do we only get a notice when we log in or do they pop up when they are sent. If we only get them on logging in we might not get new messages until the following day, which might be a bit incovienient if someone needs help straight away.

    Viper.

    Hi Viper

Also just a thought to check your personal profile as there are two settings which affect the display of PM notifications.

    Go to "My Controls"

    Then "Board Settings" under "Options"

    Make sure :-

"Do you wish to get a board notification when you get a new personal message?" is set to "Yes"

"Disable your personal messenger" is set to "No"

    Kind regards
