  1. Thanks guys! It's reassuring to know that im not alone struggling with this
  2. yea... Im in a similar situation at the moment! When L gets out of control he says "I cant help it cos i have ASD remember!" and then he carries on with the aggression. I tell him that he cant hurt other people just because he is feeling overwhelmed with everything and have tried to explain to him that if he is feeling like he cant cope he needs to go to his room and punch his pillows instead. I know its different for u cos your little one is having to cope with this at school. Also my DS is 12 so he is probably able to understand stuff a bit more than your little one! If she did use excuses i think it was because she genuinely needed to get out of that dining room and she was told she couldn't and so she got desparate and resorted to the aggressive behaviour. Maybe her teachers need to see the warning signs and act before its too late and she gets distressed. sorry im not much help! Sending u *hugs*
  3. arghhhh! we r having big problems with getting L to brush his teeth at the moment! It is definetly a sensory problem. He does not brush them well at all cos he says if he brushes hard it makes him feel sick and he hates the feel of the brush on his teeth. The bigger problem now is that he has just had a permanent brace fitted and the orthodontist has said that he needs to brush better than he has been cos other wise he will start getting holes in his teeth. Now teeth brushing has become a big stress! Every morning and evening he screams and cries cos i make him brush harder. Just dont know what to do to make it easier 4 him! Anyone elses kiddies have problems with teeth brushing and how do u handle it?
  4. Hi honey! well u r in a great place here! welcome xx
  5. sorry billabong! My computer was playing up and it told me that my first reply did not go through lastnight! arghh! stupid computer! Now you have three replies from me lol!
  6. Hi Billabong! DH has AS His father has it too! 6 years into our marriage we nearly split cos it was so hard but we talked it over and read books on adult AS! It wasn't until both my sons got diagnosed with ASD and SID that DH started facing that he had difficulties. We have now been married for 14 years. I still struggle with our relationship and it can be really hard at times but somehow i manage to hang on! It's nice to find someone who also struggles with these issues! DH wont go for a diagnosis! He says its not going to make his AS go away! Hopeu r doing okay today honey! Im here if you need to rant or chat as im not working at the moment so i come on the forum quite alot throughout the day! *hugs*
  7. I have struggled with severe depression on and off for most of my life! Im on Escitalopram 25mg at the moment Depression sucks!
  8. S my youngest is off to middle school after the summer holidays. His close friend is coming to the same school as him but they will be in different classes! Thats not too bad tho cos they can still meet up at breaktime. Im more worried for my little'un, hope he will manage as it is a large school with 33-34 kids in a classroom . awww sallya <'> . It is sad but he'll be okay xx
  9. Hello! It's great to have u here! Autistic spectum runs in DH's side of the family. His father is definetly AS without a doubt (not Diagnosed tho). DH has AS traits! & years into our marriage we nearly split up cos DH just couldn't seem to understand the emotional side of a relationship! He still struggles when i try to talk to him about how im feeling and he struggles with sensory overload. He is definetly dyspraxic! He loves being social but feels awkward at gatherings at times! And by the way he has given my permission to say al this stuff about him! Well after we nearly split we read lots of books and i became more aware and understanding of his AS and he gradually began to accept himself for who he was. We are much happier now! We have been married 14 years! He tries so hard with the boys cos he understands their difficulties but he does struggle with being a father. Anyway! Just want u to know that i understand how hard it can be <'>
