Hi, I have just become a committee member for our local autism support group. As a group, we hire a local soft play centre for 2 hours a week during the summer holidays. We have been able to pay for it using money from the children's fund but that has ceased and we need to find funding. Has anyone got any suggestions? Thanks Mary

Hi Dawn, My ds went to school for a year and a term. We deregistered in December. Home ed for us has been really relaxing and the whole family has benfitted. As far as i know if your child isn't registered at school and you want your child to have a statement, you just need to ask that the LEA put educated otherwise in part 4 of the statement. My son has a statement but while we are HE we do not have to follow it, it is for the LEA to maintain not us. We have agreed to the LEA coming to visit us at home, and they are coming on Thursday so it will be interesting to see what they say. Hope that helps Mary

Our elastic on our our junior trampoline has broken. We have one of the small trampolines - ?15 from Argos. We brought it a number of years ago and have lost the instructions. We know it is made by Pacific but don't have a contact number. Does anyone have the manufactures details or any idea where you can buy trampoline elastic from?? Any help much appreciated!! Mary

We have booked a holiday to centre parcs this year. I typed in centre parc codes into google and came up with one that worked for us for our holiday in June. We got ?89 off the total price with the code DABS. Thanks for all the recommendations, it helped me convince DH.

We have sent our ds to a school in the adjoining county and were not aware of his sen at the time of choosing it. It has caused some difficuilty but more in the school being faced with a new situation. We have been told that when your child is under school action plus, it is the LEA in which the school is in that pays for and supplies services such as EP and support. When your child has a statement, it is the LEA in which you live that pays for support and you will probably have a new EP. Services concerning health ie speech and language can be linked with your GP so you would not need to change these. Hope this helps. Mary

Thank you for making me aware that such a policy existed. I emailed the head of the county Sen dept and she emailed it to me. DS school also didn't have a copy as they are in our neighbouring county, so it has been a great help to them as well, especially as we hope to put in the request for stat ass early next term. Thank you all, i had not thought to ask for minutes of the meeting. I will follow that up. I phoned the head yesterday to discuss how S's needs are going to be met on school action plus, to be told they have no provision for S beyond an hour a week with the SENCO and his class teacher with 11 hours of TA will just have to cope. I find it so hard knowing that next term, at least, he will not be able to cope with school and the progress he has made, may just disappear. We live in a different county to the school S attends and know that this adds time to the statementing process. Thanks Mary

Hi, I have been an avid reader of this site but have yet to post as my questions have always been answered already. So Thank you all... Today though i feel in a fog, everything has gone so smoothly for us, a diagnosis in 1/2 hour, a SENCO trained in ASD, part time 1:1 support for ds on school action plus, GP prescribing GF for my son. But now i have hit my mountain or it feels like that now. I had a meeting with ed pysch who agreed with senco and myself that s is bright but needs 1:1 support to access the curriculum. The problem we have is that our autism support worker who organises the funding at present for S turned up at the meeting - not formally invited. She announced that they are over budget and the funding is being withdrawn for his support worker and that she doesn't think S needs a statement as his needs can be met within the school's budget!! She was agitated that she hadn't been told that we are putting in for an assessment until today. What i wanted to ask is how much damage can one professional's opinion have on the outcome for a request for a statuory assessment especially when the ed psy supports us? Thanks Mary
