  1. You will have already gone but have a great time
  2. I agree with the putting it on the calendar, you could also have a notebook and write down anything that happens between calls, which would give you something to talk about. I never keep in touch with people either
  3. Hugs <'> I know how you feel, I sit in my room a lot crying too.
  4. It's a known problem with the xbox 360, 3 of the red lights come on flash,it looks like like a flashing red ring, and then you have to send it to microsoft (Germany) to get it fixed. Its normally caused by playing for long periods of time but ours isn't used that much, and I have always set time limits on how long they are allowed to play so it shouldn't have happened. No1 son's playstation is also broken and hubby has the PS3 away with him( he works away from home and won't be back til the end of the holidays.
  5. Spare a thought for us We got the red ring of death 3 days into the holidays. AAArrrrgggggg as she runs off into the distance.
  6. That wasn't edinburgh zoo was it! A special needs school trip from Milngavie went there a few years ago and one of them lifted a penguin (they have a penguin walk at the zoo but there are now barriers to stop you getting too close, but you used to be able to join in the march), anyway the bus was half way home before one of the carers noticed and the bus had to turn round and go back.

    Harry Potter!

I was supposed to be going this afternoon, as you can see I'm not there, probably wont get another chance to go.
  8. Just had one, social worker came round 2 days running to fill it in, just asked all the usual questions ie what difficulties you have, what you need help with, mental/physical health problems, etc. He filled in the form which in my opinion made it a lot easier as I am useless at filling in forms, certainly nothing to worry about, its basically just a report that they fill in and submit to the panel in charge of dishing out money and they award what ever they think is necessary (in our case I don't expect to get anything). If you are awarded anything your social worker/OT will then get back to you and tell you what help you can then get.

    not happy

Just to let you know that my son had 2 teachers last year (job share) we also didn't think he would cope with it but actually he did once he got to know which teacher he had on what days he was absolutely fine with it. We went with the "if you don't like one teacher, at least you only have her half the time" approach". Swimming, again we were lucky in that there is a special needs school near my sons mainstream school and he had lessons there while the other children went to the big pool. It may be school policy that all children go however if it is likely to cause him stress (a recognised medical condition btw) then a letter from your GP or other medical professional your son is under (like OT) should be enough for him to opt out of this. After all if a child has a broken leg they would not expect him to do PE although school policy is that all children do PE. It has taken 6 years of fighting with our school before they realised he did actually have difficulties other than just learning we have been put through hell with the authorities when all that was needed was for them to listen to what we were saying and to see for themselves that we were right rather than just say its school policy and all children will follow it. A little bit of understanding can go a long way, and now that they deal with my son differently than the other children(where necessary) their job has actually become easier. I don't understand the english system so can't advise what you should do, but you should definitely find someone who can help you speak to the school, I hope you get something sorted out. MCL
  10. The company who are doing this 118 800 have bought databases and details from several sources, if you have never had your mobile number put on any database then it will not go on, if however you have given it to one of the companies who have sold their database (eg a utility company) then it will go on, I know not all PAYG are registered but my orange one was, to connect to the network my details were taken, personally I don't want my mobile on a directory and I would rather opt out than run the risk of being put in a directory. My main concern is for children and vulnerable people who need a mobile for safety reasons.
  11. MOBILE PHONE DIRECTORY - YOU WILL BE IN IT FROM NEXT MONDAY All UK mobiles will be on a directory which will mean that anyone will be able to access the numbers. It is easy to unsubscribe but it must be done before the beginning of next week to make sure that you are ex directory. I have already unsubscribed and you may want to suggest it to all your friends and family who have UK mobiles or they could be swamped by unsolicited messages and calls. Removal is recommended by the BBC – see link below. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/w ... 091621.stm Double checked it wasn’t a scam .. it is actually the real deal folks. Shocking. This Directory of Mobile Phone numbers goes live next week. All numbers including those belonging to children will be open to cold calling and the general abuse that less scrupulous telesales people subject us too. To remove your number go here. (you need your mobile phone with you to do this, they text you a code) * the website to opt out has gone down due to an overload (I wonder why) but keep checking every day if you want your phones opted out. http://www.118800.co.uk/removeme/remove-me.html You can remove your number from this list, and tell all your friends - especially those with children who have mobile phones. I personally believe my mobile number is private and I should be able to chose who I give it to - none of us agreed to this when we signed our mobile phone contracts.
  12. Long may it continue. Dry cleaners are good because everything is labelled in numerical order, and hung in nice neat, straight rows, now how can we get the rest of the world to copy them.
  13. Just to even up the discussion, I don't like dysons. I have one and I use it only because we have a dog who leaves a thick carpet of dog hairs on top of the other carpets, the dyson is terrible for picking them up, the only good thing about it is that it is bagless and needs emptied (of dog hairs) 2/3 times per room. The vacuum I love best is my meile, lovely and quiet and picks up everything (just can't afford all the bags I would go through) if we didn't have the dog I would use this all the time. I am banned from buying vacuums, I have a collection of them in the cupboard under the stairs, last time I bought a new one and my hubby saw it he said " you're supposed to empty them when full, not buy new ones" One good thing about dysons is that you can wash most of the bits, to keep it nice and clean.
  14. A little bit of understanding can go a long way. It's a shame your son didn't get that. Mine has just had school swimming lessons too, but because he does'nt like water, or splashing or the echoing noise you get in swimming pools, our school were very understanding and rather than let him opt out they arranged 1 to 1 lessons for him at a local hydrotherapy pool, still can't swim but it build his confidence in the water, they have arranged for him to go back next term to actually learn to swim, and when the other children got swimming certificates he won a packet of yu-gi-oh cards which means more to him than a certificate.
  15. Ooohh, pretty dress Well done Bid, looks like you did a great job.

    Bad News

<'> hugs to you and meg
  17. Ha Ha Ha, I used to work in IT with the council I did the schools computers, blocking all the proxy servers to stop people using them, (try asking the kids which ones they use!!!)
  18. Sorry When I looked I didn't find them, ah well I've got the cheap george ones now.
  19. Can save you looking, next don't do the zipped ones anymore.
  20. Well done (hope you don't mind smells, perchloroethyline smells awful, hopefully its a new green machine they have, they don't use perc)
  21. Havn't tried it yet, but I was also recommended this course. I have the book that goes with it "overcoming depression and low mood" by Dr Chris Williams, but I was also told that the book and on-line course are both recommended to be used along with a psychologist, so that you are both using the same approach. As far as free courses go, this is one of the best (is better than some that are paid for too), therefore definitely worth trying
  22. Fav words are Chavtastic - (adjective) describes anything chavvy Bo**ox - which I say all the time
