  1. Had first asd diagnosis appointment today, Jack spent the whole time walking round and round the sofa with his hand over his mouth breathing heavily enough it made a grunting noise.... It was an hour long appt! Showing his true colours for them to see.

      I remember first Paediatricians appointment with our son. There was the Paediatrician and 2 others and myself, husband and son. We talked about things for a while. My son sat on the floor playing with some toys that were there. He didn't interact with anyone. Didn't come and bring me anything. Didn't seem aware of anyone else in the room.   2. accidents nearly every day for the last week... HELP! Hes going to be 5 soon and still not there :( i want to give up and keep him in pull ups. Can not belive potty training has taken soooooo long, and still on going.

      Alot of children on the spectrum have toiletting problems.

      My own son was out of nappies by age 3. Now he is older he has explained to me that often he does not 'feel' the need for the toilet until the last minute. Also he has no idea if he wants a wee or poo and so can get caught off guard if standing up and then realises he needs to sit down quickly!

      So I believe it is tied alot to sensory processing [as all internal sensations are from sensory information being proce...

  3. So this convo just happened! Me- Jack Nanny's dog has died, so you wont see her next time you visit nanny... Jacks- "Oh". Me- Nanny's dog wasnt very well and now shes gone, you wont be able to throw the ball for her next time you go to nanny's, poor dog. Jack no response so I ask... are you happy or sad? Jack - Happy.

      Children on the spectrum find it hard to understand their emotions.

      My son told me "I don't know what a happy feeling is".

      Sometimes this can be a processing difficulty ie. not processing what is happening in real time, and therefore not connecting emotions to events.

      He should be assessed for emotional literacy and a programme put in place.

  4. OMG!! Opening our own Bakery on 3rd November - can't believe how the time has gone so quickly - wish us luck with our new business venture.
