  1. hi baddad thanks for your reply,i am definately keeping him off school and taking him to camhs as he had another one last night his consist of flying objects around the ceiling but one one occasion there was a man in black stood inside his room but i asked him if he spoke to him and he said no,ive tried to explain that nobody can see them apart from him,i am afraid that they will put them down to night terrors as when he was about 6 he has 2 fits he had a brain scan which said he had a abnormality on the left side of his brain which camhs said was normal in children(but ive never heard of it before)and put it down to night terrors
  2. hi my 12 year old son is dx with adhd, high functioning autism, dyspraxia, hypotonia and a severe anxiety disorder. He is medicated with 2.5mg rispersdol and 4mg melatonin and for just over a week he has began to suffer from hallucinations at night,i know that this is not night terrors as he is awake and talking to me about the things that he is seeing in fact he cant believe that i cant see anything.I do not think it is the medication he is taking as he has been on the melatonin since he was 6 and has been on the risperadol for a few months now.Is there anybody out there that has had this problem with there child and can advise
  3. Thanks for both your replies i am going to give the new medication a try and see how he goes on it,i suppose anything is worth a try as he cant go on like this hopefully it will go well as i have heard that many things about this medication i was quite worried i will be over the moon if it works
  4. I have a 11 year old son who is dx with adhd, dispraxia, autism and a severe anxiety disorder on our last visit to camhs my sons psychiatrist prescribed risperidone for my son, after doing a bit of research on the medication i became quite concerned as to what they was for.Has anybody got any experience of this medication if so could you please let me know if it has helped you or not.My son has not started the treatment yet as he has to have a ecg first
  5. I have a 11 year old son who is dx with adhd, asd ,ocd, hypotonia and a severe anxiety disorder,my sons toileting needs have always been terrible but over the past 6 months they have become worse it began by wetting himself a couple of times a week to wetting himself every night,he has said that as soon as he wakes he wets himself he describes it as he does not feel like he wants the toilet it just comes away.My son is due to start mainstream high school in september so of course i am becoming very concerned does anybody else have this problem,is it normal for children on the asd spectrum.Could somebody please advise
  6. hi my son aged 7 mths was dx with hypotonia,at 6 yrs old with adhd and medicated and has just been dx with asd where he scored very high on a ados test.Last month i attended a multi agency meeting with the school and my sons psychiatrist from cahms,at the meeting the school questioned my sons dx of adhd as he does not fit the stereotype i think, the psychiatrist advised the school that somebody had been into school from cahms and had observed my son in class and as soon as the teacher moved away from his desk my son began to flick his pencil and lean back on his chair and laugth and joke with other pupils in the class to which the teacher said that most of the children in her class are like that. The psychiatrist advised that i have to take my son off the medication [concerta xl 27mg and melatonin 4mg} and keep a diary but the last time my son was taken off the meds he became very depressed and anxious and i am now dreading monday when i have to stop giving him the meds.I now feel very confused have i been giving my son medication that he shouldent have been on for 4 years? Is the asd dx correct.Iam sure that i read somewhere that asd can cause hyperactivity but my sons psychiatrist has said this isnt true.Is there anybody that can help or advise me as i am desperately worried about all of this
  7. hi sally, when i said my son suffers from his stomach i meant that he gets alot of stomach pains and constipation and if anxious gets the runs and vomiting and he also has a lot of sensory issues around his bowel movements which make him virtually unable to wipe his own bottom as the smell makes him sick.Perhaps the education think this is normal for a child that is almost 11.I just dont know who to trust regarding the statementing is it the educations aim to save money and not to statement whilst my child is suffering without those concerned even realising he was having all these problems
  8. hi thanks for your reply just had a phone call from the school senco,i have to go into school to fill in some forms with her before this meeting otherwise the meeting can not go ahead so perhaps i will learn more about what will be going on at the meeting from her.Going in on monday to fill the forms in havent got a clue what there about as i have never had to fill in forms for a multi agency meeting b4
  9. hi karen,i was put in a position where i was made to think that withdrawing the statement request was the best option i was told by the parental advisor that my son will be getting lots of help from outside agencys and that trying to fight the statement would probably be to much for me to handle as i suffer from mental illness myself but quite frankly i dont know where they get this from as its amazing the strength that you find when you are fighting for your kids.People attending this meeting so i am lead to believe are the school senco, cahms, occupational therapists, salt and a psychologist also the parental advisor from the education board. What i am wanting to know is what kind of things i should tell these people,i dont like sitting there and going on as i feel that i am putting my son down,i just feel so angry that it has been implied for years that there was nothing wrong with my son and it was just a fragment of my imagination.Sorry to rant on but i suppose we all need to release some steam
  10. hi,thanks for your advice,i have been told that after the meeting if i am still not satisfied i can apply for the statement again ,my son like yours is labelled a school refuser and also suffers with his stomach and the thought of sending him to secondary school terrifys me so much that i havent even filled the forms in yet
  11. I recently asked my local education authority to asses my son for statementing{sorry forgot to say my son is in last year of primary and is dx with hypotonia, adhd and asd}.The day after i sent the letter i had a visit from a parental advisor from the education, she said that they was really shocked as this was the first time my son had been brought to their attention{even though he had missed almost a year off school as he was to frightened to go in}anyway she asked me if i would withdraw the request for statementing as there are other agencys that will be helping my son shortly and said she would organise a multi agency meeting .The parental adviser visited last week and said the meeting has been arranged for early october and said that i need to write everything that i am concerned about as it needs to be said at the meeting and i am just wondering what kind of things i should bring up at this meeting as i dont want to miss anything out as i would like my son to be statemented as i dont think my son would be able to cope with mainstream secondary school
  12. hi i would just like to thank everybody for replying and your great advice
  13. my son who is 10 has been dx with adhd and asd and i am just wondering if anybodys children either walk in circles or pace from one foot to another. Why do they do this and what is it called,i dont know if to try and stop him doing it or to just ignore this, also can anybody give me any advice on getting your child to shower, have his hair washed or cut as my child is terrified of everything

  15. can anybody help me,my son aged 10 who is dx with adhd,a severe anxiety disorder and asd is having lots of problems around anxiety and school. At home is is really anxious, cant sleep and is very tearful and is saying he cant cope with school yet at school he wont say to the teachers how he is feeling so they presume he is okay and when i say something to them they give me the impression that they think i am lying in fact school has just rang we have to go and pick him up as he has headache. Can somebody please advise me,i feel like i am banging my head against a brick wall
  16. My son is already dx with adhd from when he was aged about 6.He is now aged 10 and has just been dx with a severe anxiety disorder and asd.I recently went to a multi agency meeting and the psychiatrist asked the senco if she had funding now for my son which she replied yes[aithough i do not know how much funding they get or what it is for}she then said that she was going to get my son statemented.I dont know if this helps you,i dont even know how statementing works

  20. hi,my 10 year old son who has a dx of adhd, asd and generalised congenital benign hypotonia has been suffering with depression for around a year and a half and i just dont know what to do.Is this the norm for children with asd,s.He kept me awake till 3am the other morning and was just crying all the time but the following morning he was like a different little boy happy, and chatty.I just dont know what to do anymore to help him,i know he has been having problems with schooling but i thought that everything was resolved in that area,he also suffers from anxiety and has got it into his head that i am going to die soon,he keeps asking me what will happen to him if i die and how much longer will i be alive for him. This is breaking my heart and it is very hard for me to keep seeing him like this.Has anybody been in this kind of situation and can offer me some advice
