  1. They are trying to find people to film for a documentary they are pitching to Channel 4 and BBC - they've approached my company as part of it so they are on the level. However I have to be clear in that even if you do want to participate, it's not guaranteed that you will be in the show. TV production companies operate in a very different way than you would expect, so if you do want to get involved, make sure you have support on hand, be aware of your energy levels, and do not feel obligated to do things that you don't feel comfortable with. This is also not mandatory. If you have any questions, Emma will be more than happy to answer them, she's very friendly and approachable
  2. Hi Roxy, It's standard process to email the mods before posting requests like this - we offer help to make sure that it's worded in autism-friendly terms
  3. Previous mods have censored quite heavily when it comes to self harm and suicide as they are trigger topics. However I think it's more reasonable to put ***TRIGGER WARNING*** and then the topic title. That way people who are sensitive can choose to read the thread or not.
  4. No editing done here Laddo - it automatically says 'edited' at the bottom of a post if it is. Bit of a strange one there!

    hi

Where did you send your messages? There's been no notifications on our side of things I'm afraid!
  6. Thanks me lovelies! If you need help or would like to feedback about anything in the forum, feel free to get in touch
  7. Hi Dandy, It's really nice of you to do this for your friend! It's probably best to start small - something like perhaps a gaming session on xbox? That way you guys can chat over the network and slowly get him him the habit of socialising with no pressure. When you both feel more comfortable, one of you could go to the others house to game etc Wee things one bit at a time tend to work best.
  8. The thread has been pinned so it won't disappear x
  9. Laddo, give it some time. People, especially spectrum people can take a while to warm to an idea or even respond. So be a bit patient x
  10. The site owners keep it running as they know a lot of people get a lot of support and use out of it - that's their pay off for want of a better word
  11. Oh no not at all Waterboatman - other unrelated forum stuff. Yeah Stitch was getting on my nerves too - Puppycat is a lot better At this point it's not productive to name names, but I wanted to use the opportunity to guage how you guys are feeling about the general vibe in the forum, and how the mods can be more supportive of you all.
  12. "I've just tonight received input re: moderator monitoring and the general opinion is more than 90% vote lack of confidence in your abilities to do so (be it timely/ cognitive responses) or just a general making of sense. and 90% say, you block the things that matter, and pass the things that "people you like" say." I thought it best just to show what I've been sent - it speaks for itself really. The fact that no one on here has any clue about a poll indicates to me that there actually hasn't been one. If there has - it's not been on this site! Regardless - if there is anything we can do better as moderators - it's a good opportunity for you guys to tell us about it
  13. I would normally just copy and paste the part of the email that was sent to me, but that's not fair on the person who emailed me - but I had the same reaction as yourself as I've not seen any poll! Sometimes I think mods on here can at worst be seen as a bit emotionally reactive, but at the end of the day - we don't mod unless we get asked as you guys are a pretty nice bunch
  14. Hi there, I've not moderated on this site for a very long time due to my job - however I was asked to come back as there was some issues that other mods needed support over. As a result of discussions with a forum member, I've been told that a poll has been held with all of you and that 90% feel it's a case of playing favourites and that I'm blocking the things that matter. I am a bit confused about a poll being held about me since I have only been back a few days. I've not moderated that much. When a forum members posts become pre-moderated, it's because complaints have been made by other forum members because they are distressed. Even the decision to pre-moderate a forum member goes through a review process by the admins, who are the only people who can change a members status. Moderators can't physically do that. Even when a member is changed to pre-moderated status, unless they are saying something really offensive or outrageous - it's not edited. It just is a buffer in which a post gets reviewed, then allowed. And that's only for a certain amount of time. Nearly all of the active members on the site are not pre-moderated - and if a post is edited - the op can actually see who edited it and why. This thread is an opportunity for you all to give me feedback, and the forum admins feedback - if we're getting it wrong, you need to tell us so we can be better.

...and if you don't, it seems. The mod's eternal dilemma :(

That's a good All Time Low song. "Damned if I do ya, Damned if I don't"

  16. We're all here to support each other, might not get along sometimes - but at the end of the day we're all human It's up to you if you want the thread moved Waterboatman - it was your first post as a greeting to the forum but if you want it moved let us know
  17. Just a wee reminder about safety - would advise that meetups are done in public places such as cafes etc. Don't give out mobile numbers unless you are sure you trust the person you are giving it to. Even at that I would make the arrangements to meet in a thread here, then once you've all met etc you can go from there. I'm sure you're all lovely friendly folk, but safety first!
  18. ***thread edited back to original op post at forum members request***
  19. Sorry Dale, your thread seems to have been hijacked somewhat. I'm not sure what the score means, but the main thing is that you are happy with the assessment.
  20. Dotmarsdotcom - can you please stop mod baiting.
  21. The mods here tend to be quite fair, and hands off as we've had bad experiences with people gaslighting other forum members to create needless conflict. Insulting them for no reason is a bit rude.
  22. I work for one of the organisations that got an award - believe me it's a great thing!
