  1. Find a social networking site for children, and only allow him access with you present(only you would have passwords etc), which means you can monitor who interacts with him while enjoying quality time together.
  2. Will check it out with the admins - keep you posted!
  3. It doesn't matter if it's a random business or someone who has been a long time member of the forum - same thing has to apply to everyone. It's not a criticism of what you are doing - people can still go to your site, watch your videos and indeed PM you.
  4. The only thing that was taken out was the part where you advertised your chargeable services/business. Your videos are still there so people can see what a great job you did. You've been a member here for a long time so you know that businesses aren't allowed to advertise on here if they are advertising chargeable services or goods.
  5. Hi Aviemorticia - it's not a facility that's been enabled by the admins, but if you open a new thread and post them in there we can pin it for you?
  6. She seems a bit 'off' to me - best avoid under all circumstances. My brother ended up in a very similar situation and was branded a wife beater and abuser (which he really really was not) by local social services as she was very good at manipulating the situation. This girl sounds the exact same - cut her out of your life and focus on the good stuff.
  7. I've trained many people on the spectrum, and think that there is definite scope to adapt the curriculum for specific learning styles. However these things, according to the government cost far too much to institute. Personally I think that schools should be finding out about a pupils individual learning style and learning how to integrate that with the mainstream so that there is the best of both worlds.
  8. Get him off grindr!! It's a bit full on for an inexperienced 14 year old! Grindr is more for finding people for 'adult meetups'. He could come on here, or sign up to other ASD related forums - there are a lot of LGBT teens about online so he needn't worry about getting exploited etc He could also look up local LGBT organisations as there are a lot that help teenagers
  9. Hi Sam - nice to meet you! How did you discover Giant African Land Snails?
  10. I think right now you need to talk to someone like Mind or Breathing Space who will allow you to vent and help you get constructive help. Take care of yourself and allow yourself to de-stress from the interview experience slowly. It sounded like an awful phonecall and I am not surprised you are feeling to stressed out. Give yourself time to process it.

In memory of my good friend Ryan, who helped me go for diagnosis.
  12. Since Specialisterne are a testing company as well as a third sector organisation, they are better placed to get investment in London.
  13. We're not the only location - if you read my post, there is a branch being opened in London soon. We're a substantially smaller office than we were before - however the London office will be a lot bigger and able to support a trainee class of 12 plus staff. Where are you based?
  14. The only stipulations as far as I know is that you have a formal diagnosis, and some knowledge of computers/testing/programming or at least the potential to pick it up. Once they are in a position to take on trainees, I am sure there will be advertising to that effect - I'll probably post something here as well.
  15. @Aeolienne - I was one of the people made redundant, it had a massive impact on a lot of people when it closed as well as me - so I would ask that you act with a bit more forethought. They have since re-opened as a smaller company in Glasgow, and I have been hired back under a self employed basis for 7 months now, and they have a head office in London which is on it's way to recruiting its first trainee class. They only pay travelling expenses during the training phase, and you are still able to claim benefits. You get training for free which includes web development, programming, software testing, also coaching on work interaction soft skills, and a formal qualification which if you were to sit of your own volition would cost you upwards of £100.
  16. If you are being made redundant you should be eligible for redundancy pay if you have been there longer than a year, they should also be giving you all alternatives to redundancy within the school or being transferred to another schools nursery. Speak to hr about it.
  17. Hi Thomas, First off, welcome to the forum! I'm sorry to hear you've had such a hard time so far, hopefully things will get better from now on for you! Cognitive Behavioural Therapy may be of some use to you in regards to your anxiety - I've attended CBT a few times and it's helped me so much. In my case it helped identify what made me angry or anxious and made me a lot better prepared to handle it when I did get angry or have panic attacks. It actually also helped me realise I needed structure as the first therapist I saw liked to talk in a stream of conciousness way - the second one had made up worksheets and diaries for me to write in so it felt like I was actually doing something You just go to your doctor, and ask to be referred for it - I wrote down why I felt I needed it beforehand as I get flustered when I go to the doctor. As for eye contact, I tend to look at peoples eyebrows, or the tip of their nose - so it looks like I am looking at them, without actually looking at them! What kind of work do you do? It could be that you may be able to find alternative ways of communicating or at least ways of handling it through the CBT. Can I ask what area you are in as well? There may be an Autism Resource Centre you can go to?
  18. Hi there If you can PM the advertisement to one of the moderators or admins that would be great thanks! Cheers Matzo

  20. Here's a great bit of info from Govan Law Centre in Glasgow - it primarily applies to Scotland, however the guidance and pro forma can just as easily be applied in England and Wales as housing benefit is a UK wide benefit and can also apply as the arguments are just as valid anywhere in the UK. Hope this helps. http://govanlc.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/launch-of-glc-toolkit-guide-calling-for.html
  21. Hi Pamela and welcome to the forum There are lots of parents here who have gone through what you are going through now, and they will be more than happy to help There are lots of threads relating to this too if you want to have a look about! Cheers Matzo
  22. I just cut and pasted from the address bar - this is weird! I'll flag it up to Lutfy to have a look - sorry!!
