    Statement

Hi well done, Charlie was awarded 7 hours statement, which is not bad for a start, anything longer would send him into mass overload. I also got a load of bumf, asking if i wished to send him to another school. I did not chose to and kept him where he is for now. Congratulations, as i know it is a long labourious process and takes a lot of letter writing planning etc. Hope all goes well Lainexx

Hi All Just to let you all know i got it!!!! I have been awarded the middle rate care and the lower rate mobility. It has been back dated to last august. Thanks to all the support i have been given. For anyone out there just to say dont give up. Persistance has paid off, as well as common sense. I am off now for a brandy lol Lainexxx
  6. Hi All Thought i would pop in for a look. DLA tribunal tomorrow and i am very nervous. I will be relieved when it is all over. I will let you all know how i get on. Lainexx Hugs to all my fellow stressed out Parents
  7. yes my boys obsession is football. he has also trained with a team for 2 years and is playing for a team. They are good competitive team and win. At first i thought it may be all too much for him, but i have to say he loves it. It gives him a little social life which as you all know for kids with AS is not easy. I am pleased that we have kept this going as it is paying off for C. If Peter Crouch is reading this please stay with Liverpool FC lol. Lainex
  8. Hope you get this before you .... There is an Animal Park in Dalton -in Furness.... If you like museums.. There is one in Barrow.. It is not big but it is built on dockland. There is a slide show about Ship bulding... a small exibition of boats and ship building. Colony Candles which is on the way into Barrow You can see how the candles are made and the kids can dip their own candle. You can buy candles, and this also has a nice cafe. Grange over sands has a small park... There is an indoor Aquarium at Lakeside A trip on old ratty is a must it is a little steam train. You can also go on Lake Windermere. In colony candles there is a board with all tourist info on. Hope this is of some help and you have recieved it before you go. Happy hols Laine

Thanks mum 23 That is a good idea. The thing is i actually work as a nurse at the same hospital. I am going to suggest that patients who have special needs etc have some sort of code on their records so this will alert Doctors etc. This may help awkward situations, which could lead to stress to the patients and their Parents/carers etc. I wont hold my breath though as there will be some reason to why it cant be done I will also have some of the cards made. Thanks again Lorraine

Hi all just needed to sound off ( again). C has been for his long awaited physio. I am not sure if it will work but we will have to see. My main sound off is that the physio we saw obviously had not read his notes. For those who dont know C has ASD. Aspergers featuring into the catagory. For those of you with children who have this will know that poor eye contact, and communication feature very strongly. He did not make eye contact and when spoken to didnt answer in the manner Neuro typical kids answer. All she kept saying was " oh isnt he shy " Are you shy C. This made him withdraw and become more stressed. I felt like telling her to go forth and multiply and read this childs notes. Has anyone else come across this and how do you tackle it??? The tribunal for DLA next week i will let you all know how i got on. Lainexx

i meant learning difficulties, hmmm i think he takes after me on that one lolxx
  13. Hi all... just to let you know after our long, very long road with C. He has now got a statement for 7.5 hours per week. This does not sound a lot, but when you break it down it will do for starters. The next hurdle is the dreaded DLA tribunal. C has Asd spectrum dissorders with complex leaning difficulties. Has anyone else out there been through this awful process and humiliation????. I have had letters from the Cahms team, the community paediatrician and they still are putting us through this humiliation. I would tell them to shove it but, i have come this far and will not beatenn on this one either lol. Take care all lainexx
  14. I havent been denied this completely, not yet anyway. They have said i have o go to tribunal.
