    Camcorders

Hiya everyone, I got a Panasonic NV-GS15 Camcorder for xmas last year. I have loads of film on digi tape I'd like to download onto my computer in order to edit or save onto cd (I know how to save onto video tape). Do I need a firewire, can I do it via USB, do I need a specific programme, basically - what do I need. Anyone else got one, anyone know how to do it (bog standard simple)? I don't have any problem with photos, just downloading the film. Any advice appreciated Cheers, TEMARU

Hi everyone, why TEMARU? My first name is Terry (1st 2 letters TE) my middle name is Matthew (1st 2 letters MA) my surname Rutherford (1st 2 letters RU) hence TEMARU. I write poetry, and began using the name years ago to sign my stuff with. Imagine my surprise when about 15 years ago protestors were campaigning against french nuclear testing in the Pacific. The leading campaigner was called Oscar TEMARU! (small world or what?) I did a bit of digging and discovered that the name TEMARU is actually used in New Zealand and means 'giver of shelter' or 'the protector'. It is also used on a lot of Japanese ships @ the MARU etc. So, goes to prove nothing is original. What about peoples avitars? Cheers TEMARU
  3. Brilliant News. Chose what ever feels right for you. That's what Terry and I did when we finally decided to tie the knot two years ago. Matthew was our Page Boy and carried the rings for us on a special cushion that he chose himself. He even wore a shirt and tie his choice. He looked beautiful My eldest and Terry's eldest were our witnesses and my middle son and his mate acted as groomsmen/bouncers. They looked like the Two Rons We chose the longest day - because everyday is long in our house - and we thought that we would make the day last as long as possible. Keep us up to date with your news it's nice to read a really good news thread. Carole PS Oh blow I forgot to sign in as me
  4. Hi, we had spaghetti bolognaise for our xmas dinner. Tell you what, there wasn't half as much washing up to do @ a trad xmas dinner I (personally) would have enjoyed it more if there had been sprouts in it! I love sprouts (hate parsnips though). Cheers, TEMARU

    5 Gold Rings

Hiya everyone, I got a belated gift, one I expected on Fathers Day - a book entitled 'The Merovingian Mythos and the Mystery of Rennes-le-Chateau'. Not everyones cup of tea, but a book I have been after for ages. It was ordered at Ottakers for me to get on Fathers Day. Because it was out of print, I cancelled the order. They rang Carole in the past couple of weeks to say they had it, does she still want it - she said yes. Imagine my surprise on Xmas day when I saw the book revealed from beneath the xmas wrapping (better still if I get the chance to read it). Other surprises for me included (not all from Carole) - Yamaha keyboard (everyone wants to play it as good as me but can't), Billy Connoly Live In New York DVD (any other Billy Connoly fans out there- my Matthew loves him, guess why?), Lexmark photo printer (for digi pics), tripod for my camcorder, DVD tapes for my camcorder, slippers etc. - THE GODS WERE GOOD TO ME! All in all, I got what I wanted, and a few surprises to boot (I've also got a canny lass as a wife - just to embarass her in public, Loves ya Carole ) Cheers, TEMARU
  6. Hi again, yes, it's the time of year when we wish that the following year will be better than the last - My last post was to do with new years resolutions - this one is to do with the people and/or organisations we want to take our campaign to the next stage. We have Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, Sportsman of the year etc., etc. - let's have our own ASD experts of the year/personalities of the year/who we wish to be at the front for the next year and onwards. Let's compile a list of those we trust, who we feel can take our cause forward, whether it be an individual or organisation. Who do you want, and why, and what do you want them to do to make life better for our community? 1000 people muttering to themselves will not be heard; 1000 people speaking together (with 'one voice') will be heard. Let's hope the next year is better than the last - Cheers, TEMARU
  7. Hi Brook, ages ago, I was tidying up our sitting room. Matthew was sitting in it and I asked him - 'Do you like the sitting room tidy or in a mess?' He replied that he liked it being in a mess (untidy). I asked him why and he replied that it felt 'warm' when it was untidy/messy, therefore the room must feel cold to him when it is tidy and clean. Lesson there for everyone (with ASD kids) who likes a tidy sitting room? Or - anyone experience the other side of the coin where their kids feel warm with orderliness/tidyness? Cheers TEMARU
  8. Hiya everyone let's create 4 top ten lists of new year resolutions - one for individuals one for us (the ASD community) one we would like for our kids one for what our kids would like from us Cheers TEMARU

    Introductions!!

Hi everyone, Terry is the name, raising awareness is my game! I'm the husband of Carole, but the quieter of the 2. I'm the one who gets the mundane tasks, such as hob nobbing it with the powers that be in the corridoors of power (parliament), or travelling 2000 miles around the country to collect signatures (to be honest I'll do anything to get out of doing the dishes ). I also get invited to meetings with the local SHA, where I attempt to bring a touch of reality to the minds of those attempting to improve services for us (not always an easy task). Despite getting my BA about 5 years ago, I decided to become a full time carer, hence the reason I am able to travel to meetings etc. This wasn't an easy decision, but neither was it an easy decision to home educate not one, but 2 kids on the spectrum (Matthew and David), in fact at times it can be a right pain in the I meant neck. When I get the chance, I also like to seek out ASD groups from around the world to see what is happening internationally. I am already a member of groups from the USA, the Phillipeans (have I spelt that right?) and Singapore, although some of them are very quiet, it is still interesting to see what is happening elsewhere. I'm sure I'll get to know you all a bit better now that Carole has allowed me to get the use of the PC (now she may have to struggle to get me off it ). In the meantime, all the best for the coming festive season, be true to your wishes and hope your wishes come true. Cheers, TEMARU
