Hi Didi I have an 11yrold son dx 3yrs ago with ADHD/ODD&another under assessment for god knows what.Im a single mum too I had probs with sons school, they wouldnt hear/believe my worries&I was often looked at as a fussy parent,on one hand they told me i wouldnt get a dx as he can sit still for 20 mins&the next he was put on part time school till he got medication! know how you feel about school.we know our kids better than anyone, but schools seems to think they do cos they are 'teachers'&know it all here if u want a moan

  4. I cant STAND that airfreshener advert wiv the little lad sat on the crapper saying"poo it stinks"..grrr its usually on around teatime too, kids hate it also&press mute on remote when it comes on
  5. Really feel for you,my son does the same&its awful he has dx ADHD&ODD.I take away his things such as fone/games console/internet time/tv etc etc..SEEMS to work for a while then his behaviour goes back down again&we back to square one..swearing,running out of the house then its back to the the punishments&its really draining. he was grounded last night but came in form school at 4pm&ran straight back out&didnt come in till7pm..hes grounded AGAIN..no internet..no games..blah blah. 3wks ago was the last straw,he punched my arms cos I wouldnt let him have a£1 due to his behaviour, school have finally listened,we are trying for statementing again(primary school wasnt interested)things have been put in place for him at school&the parent support adviser is on board to try get me some respite through Barnados(as i dont get ANY,)but today I lost faith as support adviser was supposed to be with me at 10am..no sign,i rang school at 2pm,she told me'sorry sat nav couldnt find you' really feel for you when u feel like your child is getting let down&your trying your absolute best keep going&keep chin up,ive decided now im gonna get on peoples backs to get him what help he needs as they dont think twice about getting on my back when he has a do at school! as for the war zone..right with ya there too, youngest brother under asessment by camhs too for his behaviour&'ways'&the fights are horrendous! I know this post wont have been any help, but at least you know your not on your own&im here for you if you need a moan <'>

  8. well... ds just came storming through the back door in floods of tears, sweating, snotting, dripping,u name it! Was having a chilled glass of wine with my best friend&jumped up to sort it out. ds had gone&sat on the stairs&all I could get out of him inbetween BIG sobs was "hammer...broke..hammer,trouble,me again hammer i thought! EVENTUALLY calmed him down so he could explain.... he&my friends daughter were trying to break up a tree stump in her garden,ds hit it&the hammer snapped in half so he ran home(all of 7 secs away)in bits! from the tears&snot etc i expected to hear 'hammer...window,broke" this wasnt the case, rang my friend&said" I owe u a hammer chick" she was like"oh god noooo, its a cheapo hammer&il borrow yours if need be then on speakerfone she said"you broke my hammer&do you know why??its cos your a BIG STRONG LAD..&I couldnt have done it cos im not as strong as you,big man still took 45 mins to sink in that he wasnt in 'trouble' and it WAS a total accident..bless him! this is an example of what camhs are looking at..EXTREME reaction to something minor...minor reaction to something EXTREME. broken hammer=major upset etc....running into path of car=wots yr problem.heeeeee kids lol

  13. Had to get train today to return faulty item to a well know toy store that we dont have in our town...sooo I booked taxi(which we are regular approved customers) for 35 mins before train departed(11mins from home even when busy lol) &after ds checked things eg:meds windows, doors, catfood, water, fish, doors, windows ... we got the taxi!..OK he had JUST taken his ritalin as we ran out for the taxi...oh dear..he was hyper& started poking brother(not good as he under assessment for sensory/behaviour probs etc) I told him to stop doing this,he did..BUT started to push/bang/rock(however u wanna put it?? i cant explain ) on passenger seat were I was sat,I turned around once more to tell him his behaviour was not acceptable& to STOP IT& tried to direct his hands off my seat onto his lap,at which point the driver turned round&shouted "YER u better pack it in OR I'L HIT U ASWELL!" ds put hands up visibly scared&went ""woah ,GOD,SORRY! I didnt register at first what was said as i was too busy trying to calm son/S down, but then it did!for the last 3 mins of journey..SILENCE,not the usual chit chat!Ipaid&got out then rang to complain. sorry for moaning so thats why I thought id SCRRRRRRRRREAAAMMMM love to all
  14. Hiya! It was suggested to me by psych when ds is kicking off&lashing out,to try wrap him in a quilt&hold him so he feels safe&can regain control. ok thats not practical when outdoors as you cant drag a 10tog quilt everywere u go lol what about a special blanket maybe? works for me but all kids are different its just a thought
  15. This is true,my son has dx of ADHD and he can spend ages on the computer or the Wii.His consultant asked at about this at time of dx&I told him he can sit up to an hr on these, maybe more (that was without meds).he said this is typical in many children with ADHD and its called Hyperfocusing. BUTask him to get dressed,he mite make a start then Il find him playing with the hamster cos hes switched off, were as the computer/games are stimulating for him:)
