i was diagnosed years ago as having psychotic episodes,ive just recently been diagnosed with aspergers and on one of the leaflets i was given, it says that a small percentage of people who have aspergers also have these, but it also says that this usually happens in adolescence, im 40 now and still having them x

i was diagnosed last Friday and i am feeling like you are x im also very concious of my behaviours, is that an expected reaction ? i feel very depressed too and am having a lot of suicidal thoughts x no support whatsoever from family, ( brother and nephew don't believe i have aspergers ) and sister in law doesn't think i need any help. self harming has begun again x

that is very helpful and thank you x im not looking to be absolved im just looking for an explanation, which you gave so thank you x im not a teenager i am female and 40 next month, my gp suspects i have aspergers, its not a route i would have went down as it never occurred to me as a possibilty, even although there is aspergers in my family x

i may have aspergers and I'm wondering if its a common trait to ( as my sister in law would put it ) want everything your own way ? i don't see it like that, i have a need for things to be a certain way, but because of this I'm jeopardising what little relationships i have left, I'm hurting other people and i cant seem to change how i am x

hi simonjc I'm from the Scottish borders not too far from you, i am currently going for a diagnosis ( at nearly 40 ) so can identify with the age thing x Ive just been for my initial appointment with a psychologist it took about 6 months to get it and it lasted about 45 minutes, the psychologist said that Ive now to got to Edinburgh as thats the closest place to me that can further assess me. hope this helps in some small way x

im bricking it, i dont do well talking to authority figures, i wish i knew what to expect. i got a questionaire to fill out too. worried that they will want to shake hands.

well at least im not alone in waiting x i hope we all get that letter soon x
