    Time to move on

Dear all, Since becoming a member on this forum I have witnessed members 'highs' and their 'lows' and from time to time I've also witnessed a few emotive disagreements. From a personal point of view the most recent disagreement isn't anything like what I've ever witnessed here before. I feel so much upset for all the four parties involved in the recent disagreement (Viper, Admin, Phasmid and the Mods); it has saddened me immensely. I hope you will understand why this is my last post. My very best wishes to you all, Ets
  2. there is this link, http://www.bps.org.uk/the-society/ethics-r...onduct_home.cfm just to add (i don't know if this would have any relevance to your query), there are some eps who are employed by leas who are not registered with the bps. in this context it can be very difficult for a parent to hold an un-registered ep accountable for a professional misdemeanor. if a parent feels they have reason to make a complaint about an lea ep who isn't registered with the bps then the parent could try writing to their local authority asking for a copy of the authority's own code of conduct document to see if they are eligible to make a complaint.
  3. one feasible explanation could be that the school may not be in a position (at the moment) to apply for a statutory assessment for the child. schools are allocated a limited amount of ep consultation hours per year. once these hours have been used up the school is powerless to submit to the lea any other requests for statutory assessments regarding its other sen children who are in need of assessment, re-asssessment. a responsible headteacher would, in this circumstance, suggest to the parent that the parent makes the request for statutory assessment.

    Fair or not????

we had some problems with our dd's school so we wouldn#t sign the home-school agreement. the home-school agreement is mentioned further down the page on this link http://www.clsdirect.org.uk/legalhelp/leaf...tion=11〈=en , a home-school agreement has no *legal force*.

    Fair or not????

oracle has made an important point here. have a look at this link - http://www.clsdirect.org.uk/legalhelp/leaf...ction=9〈=en , point number 9, have a read of the first three paragraphs and the accompanying 4 bullet points. imho i think your son's punishment was unfair.

yes your daughter has made progress, so all the more reason why the therapist ought to continue providing input into your daughter's education. your daughter's scores are somewhat below the 50th centile (which is the average level), there is scope for more progress to be made. don't let the slt discharge your daughter from the register unless you're totally happy with this proposal. if it were me, i personally wouldn't be confortable taking the therapist's *word* on such an important matter, ask your therapist to put her assurances to you in writing, so that you would be in a position to perhaps consider her proposal. again, if it were me, i would want some sort of recognition of ongoing slt input to be written into the statement. hth
