HI I understand what your i going through,my 11 yr old son has been going through the same for 2 yrs as he was only dxd age 9,school dont listen,he will very often come home with a full lunchbox,and he must eat because of his meds,also he will not drink as i found out some other kid had said there was acid in his water bottle,so i brought a new bottle but the thought is still there,so he wont drink,i kicked up a real stink and they met with my son and i,we agreed that my son could eat in a seperate place from his peers if he chose 2,the sn's office was where he went,i also said that he should b able 2 choose a peer 2join,but if and when he made some friends,i would also find him sat on the bench rocking alone many break and lunchtimes,it broke my heart,he has problems with what is appropriate to wear depending on weather,my son has no support at school i have applied 4a statory asses but they refused and said school can meet his needs within there own resources,well they cant or he wouldnt have the problems he does,so iam appealing against it.This has been the case 4 last 2 years,he is also very far behind his reading and writing skills average at 7yrs he is due 2 start mainstream senior school sept,the problems he will have there are beyound thinking about,i hope u can relate 2 what i have said and youre welcome 2post me anytime,its a fight with education all the way but stick 2 what u know your son needs,they will have 2 listen in the end ,its also a good idea 2keep a diary record of all your sons issues that he and others have told you about and what day they happened and what resulted from this atleast you can refer 2 things with positive evidence of reacuring problems.hope this helps keep strong. re re;cant go out I suffer the same problem 23 of my sons have diagnosed multicomplex disorders they were only dx in last 18months although they r 11,12,15since then i dnt go out only been out 2visit people 4 times in the last 170days iv also become phone phobic and i suffer panic attacks please get help i have had councilling and take medication dont b ashamed,many parents go through this after a child is dxd and dr said its a sort of mourning process due 2 childs dx and parent ,feeling they need 2b there 24/7 4the child as others dont understand there needs,also 2 put yourself in a situation where people may question your sons problems is beyond even thinking about ,when u feel as you do,if u cannot go 2 doctor ask a close friend 2 ring and explain 4u and request a home visit,have sum1 with u 4 support ,i do know what your going through and you have made the 1st step by asking 4 advice here at the group,you can be strong and do it 4u and your son life is isolated enough 4 children with asd,i know u can do it ,if i did than you can too,please try post me anytime or if you just need 2 talk takecare hayz x x

re living roughwhat you are going through my younger brother is 25 nowhe had probs from a young age but my mum never tried 2 find out what was wrong i practically brought him up,he was socially isolated no genuine frinds couldnt keep a job,and always needing somewhere 2live he lived with me on and off ,but i have 5 kids with multi complex diagnosis and his behaviour and drinking etc caused absolute havoc we r in surrey drs wouldnt help until he went himself but when i got him there he convinced them he had no problem,finally i found he was sleeping rough in a feild and had been 4 3months but convinced me he had a place 2 live,i took him back in much 2 my husbands disaproval but ended up getting him taken 2 mental health hospital by abulance as he started self harming,twice they released him and i had 2take him in again finally they listened when i refused 2 take him bk and told them i couldnt cope anymore with my kids and my brothers problems,just last year they diagnosed him with borderline personality disorder,which was at 1st mitaken 4 schizophrenia,this may have developed from undiagnosed asd in childhood,he was put in supported housing and is still there but he is not supported properly he is only still there because they sorted out his benefits,rent etc he will never hold down a job still drinks far 2much and once again hasnt had support is not taking his medication,he was socially not excepted for so long he is just past caring,your son needs total support and understanding and you havent got the support 2give him because of your own difficulties,u must feel terrible and i do sympathise but you must tell your son if he doesnt get proper help and admit 2 adoctor his problems than you can no longer help him,he must start 2help himself all the time i did everything 4 my brother he wouldnt help himself,there are many people wno have similar problems in our world we can only do so much ,hes your son but your his mum help work both ways,i hope this helps post me anytime takecare keepstrong hayz i totally understand

I know exactly what u mean ,people just dont get it do they,and my family dont support my sons ds at all hayz

My son is exactly the same ,his memory is great if its something that interests him,he is 11 but only has reading age of 7,school send him homework 2do and he cant even read it,he has no support at school and been refused statement im going insane ,how he will cope at mainstream senior school nxt year i really dont no hayz

Hi brooke,i havent been on forum long my son is 11 he has always copied mannerisms ,things off tv etc its only last 3months i am managing 2get him 2understand some things shouldnt b said in certain situations.you are not alone i understand totally,im using social stories 2teach my son its hard going but im getting there,it took a month 2convince him some things hes sees on tv r not real,u probably know most asd kids have probs with fact and fiction,hense why they think its ok 2say the things they do ,your welcome 2post me anytime ,i have 5kids the 1 i was refering 2has adhd,ocd and aspergers,another of my sons has mild cp and aspergers he is 12and my eldest is 15 he is going 4 ds 2mo takecare hayz

THATSgreat 2 hear i have 2 sons tryin 2get statements 4 last 18months they have no support at school 1 of them hasnt been 2 school 4 18 months i have 5 children n its really hard work but ur news is a great incentive 2 keep fighting . Hays

hi im hayz im new 2 the forum i new there was problems with 2of my sons they were in the system from age3but neither were dx until 11+12yrs 1 is so far behind he averages 7yrs he dx is adhd aspergers+ocd he is in mainstream with no support my senco said exactly as urs did they r useless how he wil transfer 2senior skool insept wiv his average i dont no,my other son got excluded due 2 his behavior,but if they had supported him like i asked it wouldnt have happened he has aspergers and cp down rite side it would b great 2chat 2u i no just how u feel hayz

hi im new 2the forum, i kow how u feel 2 of my sons have aspergers aswel as 1 havin cp down right side+other also has adhd+ocd,my sons r 11+12 the 11yr old does exactly the same as ur son if i try n make him go he sits rocking doing this awful wail noise id love 2 chat with u i live in southeast england=i have 5kids in total keep strong hope u post me soon hayley
