  1. Hiya ChunkyMonkey.. Welcome. Can i just say your welcome post was lovely and so very very honest. Your hubby is a lucky fella... My son has Aspergers but I also have a friend who has a hubby on the spectrum and all you have said, she has said at some point.. cant really add any more than that but Welcome!,! F x

    I'm new.

Hiya Cathcart and a huge welcome! My son was diagnosed 2 years ago and although it was difficult when they finally said it, It is a tremendous relief to finally be told. I hope you and your son are getting support...theres lots of info on here although the only is, its quite a quiet forum... Really good info ....Good luck Lots of love F x
  3. Hiya and Welcome!!! I hope you find this site useful and informative.... I have!! All the best F x
  4. Hi Caroline, Welcome!! i too have an 11 year old with aspergers and can relate directly to a lot of your wee ones difficulties... The main thing is you are aware he has difficulties and its being dealt with but like has been said before, dont be fobbed off and stick to your guns about getting a confirmed diagnosis as earlier diagnois can give you additional support which will benefit you all... All the very best....... Hugs to you all.. F x
  5. I know this thread is very old but I too can say that my 11 year old who started high school, a fortnight ago, Aug 2012, appears to have benefitted considerably whilst on Clarocet junior. He has Aspergers and has OCD and severe anxiety. Neither of which have been major since taking these tablets. He appears so much more relaxed and less anxious. Its wonderful. ahe has been worrying sick about high school for nearly 10 months resulting in a referral to our local CAMHS servoce where we are waiting for a Cognitive behavioural therapy course. In the meantime I have tried this and things are improving and he is happier... Thank God.... Poor soul, its been torture this past year for him.. Hopefully he will continue to benefit F x
  6. Excuse my ignorance, as a relative newbie to the forum but I thought that a lactose intolerance went hand in hand with Aspergers. My son couldnt drink cows milk when he was a baby and had to drink soya milk as an infant which he didnt like either. He was able to tolerate this without being colicky. As an 11 year old, he is now able to better tolerate dairy..., F x

    Hello

Hi, I am relatively new too and am finding the forum very quiet... Maybe speak to you again F x
  8. My 10 year old does well academically at school but due to his obsession for perfection, homework is a total nightmare.. He stresses and fussed over a minor task, often taking hours to complete the simplest of tasks. He wants things to be PERFECT...all the time... The pressure an anxiety p he places upon himself is incredible. He hasn't got teaching support as his academic skills are up to scratch but emotionally he struggles in school, often saying he is lonely and ignored.... I sympathies with all parents of AS children as they are such a diverse group of kids... All the very best F x
  9. Thanks so much, will give them a try also!!!!! f x

    Confused

hiya... What a shame you feel that way but the forum isn't as busy as I thought either.. I am a mum of a 10 year old with Aspergers and also have come online to seek help and advice.... Perhaps NAS in your local area can put you in touch with others similar. I hope you find out the info you need. It's difficult when you don't really know where to go for advice..... All the very best. F x
  11. Thanks... emailed NAS today.... cheers ...... fudge
  12. Hiya Glyno, I too am new here and can sympathize. I have a 10 year old whose anxiety levels are through the roof. He is able to tell me what it feels like. He says he wakes up stressing, he then stresses because he thinks we are stressing.... if he doesn't stress, he worries that he isn't stressing and so it goes on. Life's a ######, it's bad enough that our children struggle but with the added pressure of additional medical conditions, makes things so unfair.. Does your child have active support and assistance at school and is he in mainstream or specialized school Good luck Fudge xx
  13. My 10 year old laughs loudly at the most inappropriate of times... The problem is with him is that it's uncontrollable and he literally cries with laughter... Like me though and I am not on the spectrum, neither of us "get" jokes.... fudge x
  14. Could it be something called "synesthesia" , people dealing with this condition literally " See" , the world around them differently. Some people see numbers, some see the world in letters and some in colours, it's a spectacularly bizarre possibility, but fascinating and very very real to those who have it... I watched a programme on it..... My son, when he gets overwhelmed by noise, sees the world as "ALL WOOLLY and all sounds are MUFFLED" Good luck , keep us posted Fudge xxx
  15. Hi all... Does anyone know of any support groups that my hubby and I could attend in Glasgow. As posted previously , we have a son who is 10, going to high school next year and we feel his behaviour (presumably due to puberty) is becoming more pronounced and his anxiety levels increasing dramatically.... We need to speak to others to provide any support and assistance.. My husband especially is finding the diagnosis and lack of support, post diagnosis, very difficult. We feel exceptionally let down by the NHS. All that money spent on assistance for drink/drugs and very little for our children... our futures... Sorry, quite angry and frustrated at the moment.... Fudge xx
