Hi all. My names Les and I'm mum to 2 boys - Z who is 16 and A who is 18. Z has autistic traits and processing disorder. A was diagnosed with Asperger's when he was 11. He found school tough at time but now has 9 GCSE's (Cs, Ds and 1 and 3 A levels (2 Ds and a C) He is soon to start a l;earning support course and currently works 2 days a week voluntarily at a local special school in a mixed year 3 and 4 class. He is going through a very difficult time at the moment as he realises the need to sign on for jobseekers allowance but finds the 'interviews' exceedingly stressful. He has had 2 so far and is due to actually 'sign-on' for the first time this week. so far my husband has accompanied him each time.
Reaching adulthood is stressful at the best of times let along when you have social and communication difficulties!
