  1. I am an appointee for my son who has aspergers, I also have aspergers My son has been on ESA for 2 years, He was first put in the working group, we appealed and won, he was put in the support group. He has just has his yearly medical and has benn put in the work one again, we have appealed decision. and waiting, It was the same doctor who did his medical last time You would think that if the situation is the same then. he would just stay in the support group, but oh no, not with Atos
  2. where can i find the the "taking responsibility" report has ideas of the type of difficulties autistics have.
  3. I totally agree, I work at home because of beeing aspie and I suffer from depression, oh, to have their lives
  4. Hi all, Long time no visit. Have had an assessment at last in cambridge, I have aspergers and I am proud of it. It has cleared my mind of a lot of isues. My son of 26 and I both have it, as does possibly an uncle. I know my life will not change, but to know I am not crazy or mad, is fab. Thanks to all those who have offered support in the past

    Boredom

Do any of you get so bored, I have tried so many hobbies to no avail, i soon get fed up with them. I do not get fed up with factual tv programmes, strange but true. I have even tried going for walks, but what is the point for there is not reason to just walk.
  7. My 26 yr old son, once a teenager, never went to any family do`s and to this day does not, not even funerals or weddings, as long as he is happy, that is fine.
  8. I shower once or twice a week, Why bother. As long i do not smell

    Taking a degree

My son is doing a bachelor degree part-time with Open university in his area of interest and because he is on benefits it is costing nothing. he had a disabled students allowance that paid for a laptop and equipment as well as a mentor to help him cope. There is support out there, try and use it

    who am i

I used to ignore instinct and that special six sense and now i listen to it and it works for me, leaving me less stressed and less anxious. after all we are unique
  11. I work from home for a charity,as a Helpline & Advocacy officer by phone letter and email. its meets my needs as a person with aspergers, who finds people difficult and the whole office work experience, I am 52 yrs old and have been in this job 3yrs. The best job ever. I go to our head office every couple of months for the day, with an understanding boss, who also works from home in my city. I manage that few hours and that is all, always exhausted when i get home but releaved. A lot of charities have home workers and others should consider looking at charity now, third sector working and their local charities.
  12. my son of 26yrs,he has aspergers, was diagnosed age 24, now lives independantly with support by a care support worker three times aday, this is funded by direct payment from a care assessment from socail services. We requested this assessment and we were not offered any help until he wanted to live on his own, then socail services were great and his social housing landlord, we also appealed is ESA and he is in the support group now. a lot of hard work and tears but worth it. Being his mum, who has undiagnosed aspergers help as my tenacity would not let me drop the pressure to the servises.
