  1. My son suffers terrible with high pitch noises and any electrical noise such as hoovers hairdryers we cannot ever have them on in the house when he is in. His pead thinks he has a condition called hyperacusis and gave me information about it One of the reasons he has his buggy is if the noise in the street gets to much or a high pitch noise kicks in some where he will go into totally melt down this has caused him to harm himself by banging his head of his pushchair hit himself and lash out it might be worth asking for a hearing test but i am not sure if this sort of condition will show up in a hearing test opheila
  2. As some of you know are kids in scotland went back on the 19th of August. So far L seems to be settling in at his new base unit. So after the fourth reminder from the DLA i decided to tackle L's DLA form. Is it my imagination or is this so called new form harder to fill in. It took over six hours and i felt i was constantly puttting the same information in at the end as i did at the begining. What i would like to know have any of you manage to get high rate of mobility if you dont mind me asking? L has a new buggy come wheel chair it is a corzo very heavy very big and takes up all the space in my estate car. To add insult to injury i can hardly lift it as it is so awakward to get it the car that most times i have to get someone to put it in for me. He doesnt use it at school but we do use it when we are out will any of this help me to get mobility? i badly need a bigger boot but no way can i afford to buy a car i just dont have the money Finally i feel like writting to gordon brown asking him if he has seen this so called improved form and if so tell me how it is easier to fill in. SORRY ABOUT THE RAMBLE JUST SO SICK OF JUSTIFYING MY SONS ILLNESS Opheila
  3. Hi L is nearly five and has always been like that as well. He still sleeps in my room so we end up with thomas on at all hours of the morning. This was the only way i could stop him charging around the flat waking the neighbours up. He does take melatonin but as yet i have little result with it. The pead did say he could be a child that doesnt need a lot of sleep but unfortunatly mum does : opheila

I found this book in the pub list sent to me by the autistic society and just wondered if any one else had bought it or tried yoga if so was it benificial opheila
  5. just an idea what about getting the pead, social worker and even your MP to put a word in for you sometimes having the backing of these people also helps. Do you have any medical points as well if not maybe you should try for them as they would help boast you points up. Dont know if that helps at all. opheila

Please know that our priority is to deliver Disney quality service at all times. As such, please accept our apologies for any disappointment that may have been caused on this occasion. I would like to assure you that a reply to your comments will be sent as soon as possible. Thankyou all for all your replies it has made me feel a lot better knowing others have been through similar situations. Disneyland has now been banned in our house and a place never to be visited again. you live and learn dont you
  7. I have taken L on this as it was having the same effect on him we are waiting for a prescription for melatonin getting it on Friday we also tried the vallergan and it had the same effect so hopefully the slow releasing melatonin will help thanks for replies opheila
  8. Is it me or is it the system because the more i read and observe the more confussed at what teachers expect from children in special units or schools. i become They expect our children to behave in a manner in which you hardly see in mainstream school. They dont know how to deal with them when they go into meltdown or become upset by the way others treat them, The only thing they seem to know how to do is complain to the parent. Maybe i am being unfair in this statement but surley they cant realistically expect them to behave like angles due to the problems they have. I am dreading L starting his unit in August as i feel i have been very lucky at nursery. What will follow i can only imagine Opheila
  9. hi can anyone tell me if there child has been given chloral hydrate to help them sleep at night, my son has been on this for nearly a month and i have found it makes him as high as a kite and keeps him awake for hours. suddenly you turn around and he is out.

  12. L is 4 1/2 still has two dummies now and again usually when he is upset or cant get off to sleep.
  13. Just an idea but what about contacting THE BBC GARDEN WEBPAGE I AM SURE THEY HAVE A QUESTION AND ANSWER maybe they might be able to advice you on what to put in the garden which isnt to expensive. Just another idea what about herbs grown from packets of seeds they are not to expensive. If you lived near me you could come and raid my garden for any cuttings that would be suitable <'>
  14. I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF WRITTING A COMPLAINT TO DISNEYLAND WAITING ON REPLY FROM EASY JET AS THEY PROMISED ME THEY WOULD TAKE THE MATTER SERIOUSLY. If any are going i suggest coming back through Charle De Gaulle airport if you have a blue badge take it with you and show to the check in staff. They do not call people disabled to my dismay they still call people handicapp. Dont move from check in desk to you are a 100 per cent sure they have contacted the airline to inform them you need assistance. Thankyou all for you kind words but i thought if any of you were going it was to warn you that you might be in for the same treatment. Finally if you do go to caseys or anywhere similar and your child is in buggy make sure it is infront of you that way they cannot remove it from que. I hope this info will help others have a better time then we did Opheila
  15. Took L to disneyland Paris it was terrible. Apart from the price to get in and standing for half an hour in a que to get a disabled pass for fast track rides he hated it. Went into total melt down at the noise vibrations and the vast amount of people there. I ended up in the play area in total tears. I tried to take him on the steam train as he loves trains only to be verbal abused by several german people about handicapp child getting on ride there words not mind. When the assistant tried to help us on the train a german man screamed at my son and he would not let us in the carriage. A lovely couple from nottingham let us in their carriage. I went to caseys which is like a mcdonanalds i was paying for the meal i turned around and L and his pushchair was gone. When i asked the couple behined me if they seen him they looked at ground. An assistant behined the counter told me he saw them put his pushchair out the door. By this time i was screaming at them about putting my son out the shop so they could que jump again ignorant german people telling me handicapp should not be there. The manager and staffed helped me get my son and put them out the shop. I was in totally shock at this time a relative took me to customer services who told us they hadnt had complaints like that before. A staff member took me aside and said it happens all the time. NEVER WILL I EVER STEP FOOT IN ANYTHING TO DO WITH DISNEY AGAIN. The finally straw came when we were due to leave airport five times i had asked them to contact easy jet for assistants to the plane they didnt and we were pushed on the bus. The other passengers couldnt belive the way in which they were treating a disabled child. When the bus got to the plane noone could get off as they had blocked the isle with my buggy and it was stuck. Again a great bunch of passengers help get us off the bus. L was taken up the steps of the plane and others help me dismantle the buggy on taking it up the steps the ignorant french ground crew man snatch my buggy out my hand if it wasnt for the passengers grabbing me i would have be down god knows how many steps. EASY JET STAFF WERE GREAT AND HORRIFIED AND WHAT HAD HAPPENED I AM AWAITING A LETTER FROM THEM AS TO TELL ME WHAT THE OUT COME OF THIS WAS. I still wake up crying shaking and shouting out and dreaming of falling down the metal steps of the aircraft. I THOUGHT WE WERE IN EUROPE where we all believed in the same rights for all i can honestly say in my fourty six years i have never seen or been treated in such a way sorry just so disgusted and outraged at the ignorance of people who treat disabled people in such a way.
