i wonder if anyone can point us in the correct dirction we have the statement and we can contset it they say in part four a school to cover the need of a child with aspergers but through out the statement there is no comment about transport which could be a problem when one of the schools they have asked us to consider is 74 miles away and another one is over 200 miles can anyone tell me if transport has to be in the statement or is it automatic that the lea is respsible for his transport if we get a place in one of the long distance school any advice please Andy if only the system cared as much for my son as i do

the lea have us looking at 2 aspegers schools and one ebd the LEA department who are dealing with his statment say they have nothing to do with his short term education the EOTAS unit bosses say that it is down to the LEA to sort it all out and they will keep giving him 5 hours a week in a library and they might take it up to 8 hours a week under ed phsyc testing eventhough he is only 13 all his scores are those of sixteen year old so we are so confuse with there action all we can hope is that the school we visit next month will off him a place

IPSEA Have put us in touch with the DRC who advised us to look at legal action because he had been discriminated against because of his aspergers they have not replied to our request for them to justify there action they have anthother week before we can take it any futher this is all so sad i have a 13 year old who has done nohing wrong he is angry at the faceless sytem and has only us to vent his anger the sadthing isi can see why he is angry

they have said they cannot met the needs of his asperger that is the reason they have given us and know one will take resposability for his education

we have a son who was removed from mainsteam last year and put in an EOTAS unit because the school could not garentee his safety we have been fighting to get him into a school that teaches children with aspergers he had some problem in his year at the EOTAS unit but once they moved him up 2 yeat groups he started to settle and make friends which for him is alomost unheard of then two weeks ago we had a letter arrive through the post giving us two days notice they were withdrawring his place he now has an hour a in the local library with a tutor we have no way of apealing this because they say he was not exspelled or excluded and there has been no break in his education we do have a final statment but with no school named he could be stuck in the library for months we have tried to question them and tell them that they have discriminated against him to which they just keep passing the buck he made the local paper again who did quite a good article please see link http://www.thenews.co.uk/template/ViewArti...ticleID=2143774

The LEA can't and won't fianlise statement as the schools we have named are saying they have no places and they have no recomendations at all, all their sugesstions have been turned down so far. Can anyone give me any ideas of other schools we could look at?? Live in Hampshire and been turned down by the Cambian Group and the Priory group have sent an EBSD prospectus. Would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

our son is coming up to his thirteeth birthday we have a diagnosis of aspergers which is also causes ADHD even with this the LEA are still trying to put my son in another Education other than at school unit for emoitionally vurnabal which he uses to his total advantage he can stop work any time he wants because the other in the unit do whe we release the report to the educational physcolagist who did his report for statment she said " oh if it goes to tribuneral i will have to see what i have missed " she missed a hell of alot loike all his needs we dont have a date forthe LEA to finalise we dont have a sugested school or placement can anyone tell me if i can get legal aid for my son because i feel that mya be the only way the system will listen Andy

It is now Tuesday and my son has still not allowed in school last wednesday he was thrown in water on the way home from school last thursday the school started an investigation and told us our son was not allowed back in to school for his own safety friday he was tested for the weils desease in the water now we cant get him into school we have a provisional statment but that is not worth the paper it is written on we have a list of schools that wont take our son and very few that wont consider him does any one know how to make a lonely board AS 12 year old who is now cut off from his friends Happy can any one out there tell us how long they took to get from provisional statement to getting a school place the fight is draining my wife and i sorry for my waffle thanks for this site

Sorry to hear your news do you have any other schools on standby we have had some say no and all we have done is ask for prospectus how can they stop you like that good luck one day the world will be fair

thank you all for your kind words just reading your replys has given us some heart to keep fighting we were starting to feel very alone i am glad and also sad there are other people who are fighting the same system as we are the fight goes on

we know the school came out looking ok the even told us the incident would aid the schools cause as they are having a problem with truancy and may get the school some help from the local police we are at proposeed statment stage and dont want to do anything to upset the lea even though this inccident is the first time the school has addmitted there is any bullying in there school in over a year Jamie has had all the blood test and we now have to wait for the results before they will give him any antibiotics thnaks tto all for any support and ideas given Andy

we are in mid statment with our 12 year old son Jamie was on his way home from school on wednesday when he was picked buy a group of bullies and thrown in a six foot deep stagnent moat of water we tried to contact the school who totally ignored us so we contacted the local paper whod have run quiet a good story the best bit of this story is thursday night one of the heads of the school came round to tell us our son cannot go back to school for his own safety and he will have to go to an EOTAS unit which they cannot sort out any transport so the school wins they dont have to support our sons needs the bullys win because without him in school there is less chance of any punishment being served to the the guilty to add insult to injury the paper told us water they chucked our son in had weils disease in it so after three blood test we now have to wait two weeks to find out how ill our son may get with all this going on we start another week fightint the LEA just to get our son the education he deserves where does it end will they drown him next time just because he diferent ?????
